The defense rolondo's freshman year was not very good. It was obvious he was a star in the making, but they weren't world beaters.
I don't think hightower saved the '08 defense, they were just plain nasty across the board. He stepped in and played a role but it's not like he was the focal point of the defense or calling plays

That's the thing about Auburn... they think when they land a top recruit, he's gonna have the "Cam Newton Effect" and it just doesnt happen. Reuben will be a great player at Auburn, but he will not improve much if at all from him time in highschool going on up to when he leaves Auburn. They dont have the coaching in place. AU can recruit with anyone but im just not seeing kids develop on the Plains. When Frost committed, he was the answer to all their problems. When Holland committed, he was too. Now Reuben has all these expectations on him but the thing is, when he gets to Auburn.. he will not be playing against high school players anymore. He will still be good, but he will be playing against kids thats a lot closer to his level.
Do fans of other schools think its just coincidence that Bama had 5 of the top 35 draft picks and now the year after, we're #1 after destroying the #9 team in the country. What im saying is, recruiting doesnt mean jack shite if your not coaching your kids up. Saban's 2nd year at Bama, we did go 12-0 before falling on our faces. Most of those kids playing were 2-3 stars...

Haha.....fine
Heard some more in the last few weeks (really week or so) that class is pretty much done
Laremy Tunsil and Henry are both now Bama locks (very interesting tidbit on AI the other day...bottom line is Tunsil and his whole fam know he'll be at Bama)
Also Robert Foster recruitment is almost close to being over, Pitt getting beat on opening weekend by Youngstown St pretty much locked him up
Staff is still heavy on the trail of Taboada, likes him as a DL 1st but versatility is a great asset

so you guys are relying on a true freshman middle linebacker to come in and save your defense? awesomeness.
Says "hello"
him too...
The difference is that Ro was smart as shite football but he took some lumps his first year and with Dontae he was surrounded by great players as soon as he got there.

I now one thing he wouldnt start a Bama. He would have to learn the system.

How a * player who had the chance to play for Saban and choses not to says a lot...

I'm glad Tunsil sees the light. How any top flight tackle chooses to play elsewhere is beyond me.
Andre Smith- 1st round
James Carpenter- 1st Round
Fluker/Jones/Koundjio- likely 1st round
it's as much of a no brainer as a DB or RB or LB
damn we stacked

He had the chance to play for Saban for sure, but if you look at the situation more closely the commitment to Bama was all a ruse, which is strange considering the sparser usually sniffs these things out, but he has several members of close family that attended AU in the last 10 yrs, he transferred to AuHS for Christs Sake. Needless to say when that happened (after he was set up for Oxford HS - a LOT better DC and coaches, and switched last minute) the staff didn't consider him committed, his name and photo came off the "wall of future champions" etc, then the debacle that was his announcement (which was a last minute doing put together in a couple hrs since he let it slip to BAMA coaches after a heated convo about him halting visits etc and showing some dedication to the program he was in tow with which was Bama at the time, he was trying to hold out to flip at the end of Summer) and then the Yeldon statement as if to say "Gotcha" but in reality was just more of a clue into his plan.
I'll say this, he's an excellent talent who will start from day 1 at AU and would a lot of other places (given the knee is ok and not shredded, but for some reason he refuses to get it Xrayed like Bama staff wanted)
So to me he perpetrated a scam for a whole year, lied seemingly on command for a whole year not just to Bama coaches and reporters, but also to UGA coaches as well for a while, was he coached? I don't know. I've heard now that a large number of the staff believes he never had any intention of going to Alabama, despite all the lip service etc, but THAT tells me all I need to know about the kid and I am happy to see us have an opportunity to offer Walker Jones a scholly at LB like he wanted.
This is my peace on this subject I will not speak on it anymore, if it seems to you like I know much more on this subject it's because I do, but a lot of what I know is still being investigated etc and a close friend of mine is heavily involved so I will refrain from telling anymore for the safety and well being of others.

this. also, ro and dont'a got the best coaching available. foster might come out of camp next year worse than he went in. chiz is in his 4th season as HC and the team as a whole still cant tackle. shameful

That's a shame, because if the sun rose in the east this morning then glades day and the rest of muck city is bad to the bone. Will be a bittersweet weekend for Derrick, but hopefully a sweet one for bama!
