why did we go away from running the slant passes against their backers? it was open all night! also, on the 3rd and 4th down running plays why did we not run the offset play that averaged about 12 yards each carry? did they ever stop that play?
i was rather surprised we didn't sneak the tight end out on 3rd and short there too!
Saban is usually pretty conservative...it surprised the heck out of me when he went for it on 4th down and a long yard to get a first down on AU's 13. i know foster had missed previous kicks but we are looking at a short 30 yard field goal to put the game away!
finally, how many field goal attempts of about 60 yards have you seen go wide left or right up in the stands...basically none on the college level...did they not notice au had a player back there to run it out?

and 1 more thing...drake averaged nearly 9 yards a carry. why did he not even run the ball one time in the 2nd half? with his speed it takes a big adjustment by the defense to get use to him after seeing yeldon run the ball.

Saban's staff wet the bed this game. No other way to put it.
Excrement game plan. Excrement play calling.
Hell Bama even ran into the teeth of a FG block front on 4th down well in fg range. That is literally jumping the shark.

Was Drake hurt or something? I don't remember seeing him in the second half.

Our staff completely got outclassed. For all of the mental stuff Saban spends that money on, it did absolutely nothing in that first quarter. For a two time defending national champion and 10 point favorite against a team we beat 49-0, we played absolutely scared.....Scared.
That is on our preparation and coaching. If Saban feels unappreciated after that, then so be it.

How can you not trust your kicking team for a 30 yarder, yet trust them for a 57 yarder?
this question will haunt me. no doubt, the dumbest play call to go for it on that 4th down, not to mention the actual play call.

Nuss deserves some of the blame. This was a classic of example of how he would quit going with what worked. OJ Howard and Drake have to be wondering what they did to piss off Nuss or Saban.
