I like how Ragland seems to have a lot of good weight at 255-260. Could be a Hightower-like presence at ILB.

Vogler is one of the few players on Alabama’s roster who was around for the 2011 quarterback battle and the current one that’s still raging on. He senses a different atmosphere, though, this time around compared to when AJ McCarron and Phillip Sims duked it out.

“I think last time there was a competition it was kind of clear-cut who the favorite was and who took command of the offense—no offense to Phillip Sims or anything like that,” Vogler said. “It’s kind of harder to tell right now. Both guys are just taking control of the offense, and they want it so bad. We’re all comfortable with whoever it is that’s out there at the end of the day.”

Unless Robinson stuck at NT, it was always going to be Ivory and Lake

Wasn't Reed in contention for the starting NT spot?

Didn't a report the other day say he was behind Ivory at Nose? Though that could have just been for drills.

I don't think so. When they both came off suspension at the same time, the reports were that they were going through the drills at 2nd and 3rd string but not at the same position.

No doubt he'll be inside when we're in 4 man front. He did that last year.

From BOL's practice report today:

quote:

The tailbacks have been carrying a football "high and tight" in each arm for most of fall camp while Cochran lurks around them and tries to punch the ball out of their grips. He managed to punch three footballs out on Monday, one from T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake.

When Cochran popped the football out of Drake's hands, Drake immediately turned and punched the ball out of Yeldon's hands.

Thought this part about Drake turning around and punching the ball out of Yeldon's hands hilarious.

We did a drill in HS when working on handoffs. Immediately after the handoff, you turn around and chase the back and try to knock the ball loose before he gets past x number of yards.

Didn't always do it, it was always a secret when you were going to, so the backs had to be prepared.

Needless to say backs and ball security make for hilarious practice moments at every level.
