Villanova? Nah, we need to recruit like Gonzaga and Michigan. We need to employ a team of data analysts to mine for hidden gems like getting borderline talent from Europe. Throw a beast local player or two and we're good.

There was absolutely jack shite out there to indicate that Barnes would be a good hire when Tenn brought him in, so I'm pretty sure hiring someone with that sort of resume wouldn't be well received (at first, then we'd all talk ourselves into it for a few days and soon become absolutely sure that the new guy will lead us to greatness since we're mostly short-memoried homers).
Unless you mean someone with some years like Barnes' last couple years already on the resume, in which case, ok, fine, we're certainly capable of worse.

Except that his entire tenure at Texas was better than that of any coach Tenn had ever had.

He was at Texas for almost 20 years and missed the tourney once. If we could only be so unfortunate as to hire a coach with that kind of "jack shite" resume

coaches who have were hired when Avery was hired. How are they doing. UT has the clear winner in that.
But look what the OM guy is doing in year one. Look what the LSU guy is doing in year 2 (?). It can clearly be done at non BB schools in less than 4-5 years with someone else's recruits.
Bottom line is Avery is not getting it with the majority of his recruits. Being a constant bubble team discussion in year 4 is not a way to build enthusiasm in the fan base. NS had bama FB competing for an SEC title in year 2.

They were also a sleeping giant in that state. No excuse for Pennsylvania to not have a bball powerhouse. Same goes for Illinois.

So who are our top candidates? Do we need to start the renovation of Coleman next year?

Don't care who we hire. This week was very Gottfried like. Or Grant at the end when the team just straight quit on him.
