I had hoped moving into a less stressful role this season would help. But he still finds a way to make any outing a nail biter. I have started to just mute the TV and leave the room when he’s in.

He has only faced 3 batters or less 13 times all season, so 1/3 of his total appearances, 3 of those 13 appearances only required him to record 1 out, and in all 3 of those he faced more than 1 batter. So he has faced the minimum 10 fricking times in 36 appearances. You can't have a guy who allows that much traffic to continue pitching in high leverage situations. Dylan Lee deserves to get more opportunities in those spots. His peripherals aren't elite, but they're a hell of a lot better than Smith's.

When Smith enters the game, there's a negative feeling no matter who the Braves are playing.
Baseball Gods were on our side during his 2021 postseason.
Strider has been absolutely on fire as a rookie starting pitcher.
Last night, 9k's 1st 3 innings.
Last 3 starts 0.50ERA, 1 run in 18IP, 30K's, only 3 walks.
Not bad for a 5th starter.
Also, we have maybe the best 9 hole hitter in rookie Michael Harris.
Dude's real deal, confident 5 tool player.

Strider is a beast. I still keep seeing people say he's going to be figured out without a real 3rd pitch, but I'm just not buying it. Not yet. Scouting is extremely sophisticated these days, so every team he has faced has known what was coming, sat on the fastball, and still couldn't handle it. 95% of his pitches are fastball/slider, but his fastball and slider are both pure filth. If Kimbrel had been able to shove for 100 pitches instead of 25 before starting to run out of gas he'd have been turned into a starter too.

He will not need a great third pitch so long as the first two stay as good as they are. All he needs is for his change up to look like his fastball and it will be devastating do long as he keeps the usage of it down.

With what i've seen so far from this Harris kid I believe i'd rather have him over Acuna. Better defensive player who's not the hot dog type which gets him hit now & then. He's showing us how strong his bat is to. It's nice having them both though to go with the other young boppers in this lethal lineup.

It's only the Marlins who hit Ronald, and they do it either on purpose or as a result of pitching him so far inside that they'll either tie him up, walk him, or hit him.

Also, did you see how hard Harris pimped that missile he hit last night?

The Nationals broadcasters were really pissy about how long Harris admired that shot .

If you hit the ball onto the roof of the Chop House at Truist you have earned the right to admire your achievement.

Headed over to Truist in a couple weeks for the Angel's series.
Needed a new Braves shirt.
So the red Michael Harris 23 jersey should be here any day now.
Seems he and Strider are gonna duel it out for NL rookie of the year.
Also, Chip Carey said after the Harris missle, I don't see him batting 9th rest of his career.
Probably true, but with him up, followed by Acuna, then Dansby, it's gotta be stressful for an opposing pitcher.

I doubt Harris bats anywhere but 9th the rest of the season aside from a couple of Snit's random Sunday day game lineups. You can't put him anywhere in the top of the order and moving him up to like 7th and getting him 10-15 more PAs the rest of the year isn't worth the risk of screwing up what's working.

I like Harris batting 9th. When Ronald breaks out of his slump then Harris will give him plenty of opportunities to drive in runs

It's definitely working.
27-8 since the Harris call up.
Even quiet a few of those 8 losses are close, down to the wire, play here or there difference.
Fun product to watch.

Unless he just falls apart at the plate I think he might actually win a GG as a rookie. He has that uncanny ability to just be there the way Andruw did and it lets him make the near impossible look improbable and the improbable look routine.

As for his bat, the most impressive thing to me is his plate approach. The double he hit yesterday was a perfect example. They were pitching him away trying to get the rookie to roll over something and end the inning with a GIDP, but the whole AB you could tell he was focused on shooting something to LF.

He's got a great shot at a rookie GG.
He's makes it look easy out there much like Andruw did.
And as pitcher's are making adjustments with him, he's adjusting as well.
That slow grounder he hit by the pitcher, you knew he was gonna beat it out.
Kid's got fast wheels as well.

I admit probably premature on my part liking Harris over Acuna this early in his career but man what an impressive start he's had & so fun to watch. Love his approach at the plate, the ground he covers in CF with no errors so far. And I believe we're going to end up having 1st & 2nd place ROY players in Harris & Strider. Btw that monthly deal with Direct stream service has been well worth it because of these young phenoms.

Win win win as that was #51. We're way ahead of last years pace.
Our closers always seem to make it interesting but we'll take it.
Now time to to enjoy a fun Saturday evening fellas.

Fried, Strider, Morton starting tomorrow vs Mets.

Max Scherzer crazy arse for the Mets game 1

I don't want to see that AA second baseman Gosselin in the lineup. Its time to turn up and finish strong.
