College Football writer Stewart Mandel has reported that Ole Miss has set a deadline for head coach Lane Kiffin to make his future coaching decision.

According to Mandel, Kiffin, whose Rebels are 10-1 and poised for a playoff birth, will need to make up his mind by the Egg Bowl next Saturday, on Nov. 28.

The reported deadline comes after speculation that Kiffin could likely be leaving Oxford for either the Florida or LSU jobs.

On Monday, LSU flew members of the Kiffin family, including his ex-wife Layla, from Oxford to Baton Rouge for a tour.

lol. Ole Miss shooting their dick off before the playoffs.

If he needed some help deciding… I’m sure this helped. People love ultimatums.

Well, he should not answer and let them fire him to collect his contractual money or a settlement of it.

He can't control rumors and has no contractual obligation to meet arbitrary deadlines for future commitment

He holds all the cards. Ole Miss is stupid to put an ultimatum on him, but I'm hearing there's a back up plan to hire the Tulane coach (who has Ole Miss ties) if Lane leaves.

They won't fire him. He'd be suspended with pay to give him the time off he needs to make a decision. Thoughtful of them.

Privately telling him that they need to know if he's staying or leaving makes sense - they need to know if they need to start looking for a replacement, and if so, start the search. Publicly stating that he has a deadline? Yeah, in the words of Tony Stark: "Not a great plan."
