Oklahoma's Brent Venables Has Warning For Rest Of SEC Heading Into Year 1
NATHAN J. FISH/THE OKLAHOMAN / USA TODAY NETWORK
Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables appeared on "The Paul Finebaum Show" this afternoon, where he provided insight into his team's SEC transition...
quote:

“This year is obviously incredibly important,” Venables said, via On3. “We’ve worked really hard the last couple of years to prepare for this moment. But what’s sitting in front of us right now is trying to put together the best roster that we can and have these guys as well prepared as we can.”

“You’re going to figure out a lot, you’re going to learn a lot through this transition. But this isn’t as much about where we’re going as who we’re going in with, and it’s not as much about proving people wrong because we are trying to prove each other right,” Venables said. “And we worked really, really hard though with both our programming, and our roster, the vision of our program for both the short term and the long term to what we need to do to transition to the SEC.”

“This is a league that is really, really hard top to bottom and the margin for error is very small. So it’s thin air if you will, but that’s what this program has been about for a long time," Venables said.

“We’re running towards the SEC and with great expectations and excitement, and again, this will be a launching point for this program moving forward.”

Sark said something similarly hard hitting and cautionary for the league.

These ‘warnings’ sure aren’t gonna make them any friends in the SEC!

I wouldn't call this a warning, rather an admission they will need to step up in order to be competitive

Watched both Texas and Oklahoma shows. The main theme from both was” we belong here”, when in reality they have done nothing.

Reality is about to set in and OU is going to quickly realize dominating in softball is one thing, but when it comes to football, being thrown into the deep in with the biggest sharks isn't a good thing. Guppies generally don't last very long! 63-28 wasn't that long ago!

Sounds like he said we’re preparing our assholes for the fricking that we’re about to take because of an a-hole bitch that put us in this fricking monster conference.

There's no by in the article. It's very complimentary of the SEC from B. Venables

Bottom feeder. OU will take pressure off Texas A&M as which team the SEC should not have let join.
