Over The Cap projects the New Orleans Saints to be $66 million above the estimated 2025 salary cap. Derek Carr has two years remaining on a four-year, $150 million contract. The QB is owed $40 million next season with a $51.45 cap hit following last year's restructuring. So don't expect him to take a pay cut...
quote:

"I wouldn't take a pay cut," Carr told ESPN's Katherine Terrell. "Yeah, I wouldn't do that. Especially with what I put on tape. Would I restructure? Absolutely. I'll always help the team that way. But there's some things that you put out there that you earned ... I wouldn't take anything less to do this. It's hard enough putting our bodies through it. And you're trying to get everything you can for your family for it."

"We all have mutual feelings, and so my confidence level is very high ... We've shown what it could possibly be at times," Carr said. "The hard part is we had to deal with some stuff that we didn't get to see that full picture all the time. So we'll see."

Cut him and keep Rattler. He's a lot less expensive.

So you guys are Madd because he asked for a number to move to New Orleans. New Orleans said yes to his number. Not his fault. Saints need to make better deals.

I am pretty sure everything being done is within the confines of the contract they signed and the CBA. The contract allows a player to hold out. The contract also allows the team to cut a player. If either side violated the contract, they would be civilly liable

Saints Front Office FAFO. I don’t blame Carr. They agreed to the contract. They should have to stick to it.

And I’m a Saints fan saying this. The kick the salary cap can down the road is coming back to bite them in the arse.

Quit going to the game if you have a problem with the millions they get.

"And you're trying to get everything you can for your family for it.".... he's already made $165 million in career earnings. How much more does your family need, man? (Note that I'm not advocating for him to give up contractually owed money - just that when he uses the "family" argument, it's tough for me to stomach).

Well you're looking at what, 28% or so gone in taxes. Then there is another percentage that goes to his agent.

We're still talking a lot of money, but it's never what it first appears.

"Well you're looking at what, 28% or so gone in taxes. Then there is another percentage that goes to his agent.".... of course, taxes, commissions, fees, etc. take about half of what he's made. But that means $80+ million net after-tax dollars in his bank account. He can feed his family on that.

"Yeah, I wouldn't do that. Especially with what I put on tape"

He is delusional, but I doubt many players with guaranteed contracts would admit they suck
