Alabama had some help preparing for LSU running back Leonard Fournette and it involved a former Crimson Tide player.

According to AL.com, former Alabama and NFL running back Trent Richardson was used to simulate Leonard Fournette on the Crimson Tide scout team last week.

The website also reports that former Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson was used to play the role of LSU's Danny Etling.
quote:

While Wilson played the role of LSU quarterback Danny Etling, Richardson mimicked Tigers star running back Leonard Fournette, whom Alabama ended up limiting to 35 yards on 17 carries during its 10-0 win over LSU.

Richardson, a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2011 and a former top-five NFL draft pick, has been out of football since the Baltimore Ravens released him in early August.

He recently worked out for the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I think Trent gave a pretty good look, and John Parker, too," Alabama cornerback Marlon Humphrey said. "I tackled Trent this week, man. That's a big guy, man. It's also pretty cool just to go against those guys, knowing what they've done for the program."

We couldn't do that, because our best former players have to prepare for Sundays.

College Football is out of control. Coaches and former players should not be allowed to practice. It is a competitive advantage for those schools with good former players. Can you pay guys to have extra players practice? Scholarship limits are suppose to keep things competitive. Also not what college athletics is suppose to be about. We can't pay players who generate millions of $$$ for the school. But if former players want to practice for free be my guest! Each Big Ten School will generate over 35 Million dollars in revenue from the conference alone starting in 2018. Remember when Jim Delaney said they would go Division III if they had to pay players? Laughable! Over signing, poor treatment of players, and rules like this make me think college football is headed in the wrong direction.

Damn. Wish LSU could get Michael Brockers, Kevin Minter, Mingo, Dorsey and Montgomery on a scout team.

That would have been the right mix to push the OL around, and prep them truly for what they saw Sat night...

For all the TL;DRing out there... "Tide coach Nick Saban said after that game that Alabama got clearance from both the SEC and NCAA to use a former player on its scout team. Former NFL star running back Marshawn Lynch served as a scout team running back for his alma mater, California, earlier this season. "We try to stay on top of the rules," Saban said in late October. "We have people in our administration who do a good job of letting us know what we can and can't do and we would never do something like that unless we got it approved by the SEC office, which we did, and the NCAA."

Imagine this becoming an NFL alternative to help players who already graduated continue practicing to get to the league. A team with enough money, aka Bama, fielding a scout team entirely made up of former Bama athletes and NFL players. Lol you know Tebow is already excited about returning to Florida to relive his glory days.

Really really really disgusting with what 80- 90 players you have to stoop that low to have a couple of washed up former players to simulate another team players .

That washed up player probably ran for over 35 yards tho.
