Report: SEC Leaders Discussing Extreme Measures Against LSU Over Former Pro Players

The ongoing battle between LSU and the SEC over former professional athletes returning to college could be headed toward an unprecedented escalation.

According to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger, high-ranking SEC school executives are exploring several extreme measures in response to LSU's plans to add former professional players to its roster.

Those possibilities reportedly include SEC schools boycotting competition against LSU, placing the university on probation, potentially expelling LSU from the conference, and pursuing a federal legal challenge.

No such measures have been formally adopted, but the discussions highlight the growing tension between LSU and its own conference as the legal fight over player eligibility continues.

LSU is expected to add former NFL players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, while the Tigers have also been connected to other players seeking an additional season of college eligibility.

Lane Kiffin confirmed Monday that Wright, along with former Notre Dame edge rusher Junior Tuihalamaka are currently practicing with the Tigers.

The SEC currently remains blocked by a Louisiana court order from enforcing its new eligibility rules and associated penalties. A preliminary injunction hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Baton Rouge, just two days before LSU opens the season against Clemson.
