It's no secret that the college football landscape has changed drastically over the past few years due to NIL and player-contracted salaries.

The good news is that LSU coach Lane Kiffin has no problem embracing the new college football world. He's also not shy about his expectations for his staff and players in today's NIL landscape.
quote:

"I tell our guys it's a production business. I tell our players that, and I tell our coaches that," Kiffin said.

"These coaches were paid a lot of money to come here. And they need to produce. So the first thing you can do is sign the first class. The final production is obviously winning on the field. Well, we can't win the game today, but you can win the roster and recruiting."

"If you go get a staff and pay them, you expect a lot. No different than these players getting paid. We have high expectations for them. They need to produce."

"I told the staff yesterday, and I told the players today, you guys may have these salaries... Don't sit around and think you have this salary for this coming year because of what you did before, okay? Because you won this before, or you were a good player before, or you coached these players in the position last year. Okay, this salary is for the work you're supposed to do."

"You're getting paid each month moving forward, it's not because of what you did before, because then you can just sit around, and you won't be very good because you'll keep saying, 'Well, I earned that." No, no, no. You've got to go earn this every month."

"And that's why you're here. And that's the way I try to get them to look at it."

That is the way it should be. Also would be nice if people quit referring to any college athlete as a kid. They are 18 or older, getting paid a salary and , voting for who runs the country. They are no longer kids. They are young adults who are now in the real world with expectations that must be met. No different than an 18 year old who leaves high school and goes to work offshore, pipeline, military or any other profession. Once you’re paid, you damn well better preform!

No more baby food. You are no longer student athletes, you are professionals paid to do a job. We pay for results. Produce or shut ya mouf. I genuinely hate what this has become though. Cfb has sold its soul for a dollar.

Far cry from "these are the players we have" or whatever TF Kelly said.

Love this.

Just like in sales. As the saying goes “you are only as good as your previous month”.

Each month you start with a clean slate and have to put up numbers again.

Love it. Paying players big money. There’s no taking plays or practice or games off
