LSU wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase broke his silence on Monday after the news came out this past weekend that he would be opting out of the 2020 season...

Chase's father previously told reporters that his son was locked in on the upcoming season and the star wide receiver had been present during preseason camp this month.

Rumblings that he would be opting out began to surface over the last week and Dennis Dodd with CBS was the first to publically report the news this past Sunday.

I wonder how he will feel when he’s watching his teammates battling the crimson tide in a big showdown! I bet he’ll wish he was there!

Imagine this is your kid. Even in a normal year. He’s due millions of dollars. Just can’t off a dream season. What would you tell your kid to do? Really..... you know the answer.

I would tell him, “If you aren’t committed to this team, don’t wait until right before the season after they put No. 7 on your back and recognize you as a leader of THIS team to walk out.”

I love Ja'Marr. The dude has done nothing but work his a$$ off to become the best WR in the country as a sophomore. Selfishly, I wanted to see him play again in purple and gold, but he is a top 10 pick in next year's draft and with the oddities of the COVID situation and this upcoming season, it's an understandable business decision. I wish him nothing but success at the next level and I will be a fan.

That tells us it was either 1) SJW stuff, 2) an agent, 3) covid , 4) Ryan Clark or 5) all of the above.

Since when did football players start sitting out their junior year for the draft. He will be top 10 pick...wouldn’t be the first junior to to have gone that early. So much for guys sticking around to play and be forever LSU

GOT DAMN! There are a lot of fake arse LSU fans out here. Look I really believe WR Ja'Marr Chase wanted to play this season. But when all but four o-lineman went into Covid-19 isolation that put on lot on his and his family mind. This wasn't an easy decision for Chase but this kid is a top 5 to 10 pick in the draft, he have nothing else to prove at LSU. I really hate for him to leave for selfish reasons but Chase has more to lose then to gain if he stayed. All I have to say is thanks for the memories of the greatest season for a WR and good luck. Go get that money young man and represent LSU in the NFL.

plenty of time for him to get that big check. He should imo play now for LSU. They put him on the train to the NFL

As a fan I'm happy for the young man having the opportunity to get lifetime financial stability for his skills. He's a 5* athlete who gave 5* effort and achieved 5* fame as the best in his position so, why criticize him for doing something that will make him happy and set his family up nicely for the future? Under different circumstances he probably stays and play this season. Thanks JC for a once in a lifetime season!

If he wanted to tell us first, why didn't he? Obviously told a lot of people before he told "us".

I don't blame him. Why risk playing during a season that was shite on by 2020. It's a worthless season that will have an asterisk by it. then, the crap protocols they'll have to go through..? I'd sit it out as well. He'd be here if it was a full season with no bullshite and a chance at a real 2nd title.

So when things change and get a little tougher, you just quit? Look I understand he doesn’t owe us anything but there is hardly any risk of playing football. And if you aren’t willing to risk things then why play the game at all. A title this year would be the same. You beat whoever was put in front of you while dealing with all the issues so imo it would be even more historical to win one in 2020. Back to back and you’re playing for your team, your brothers, your family and your own name. He would be better off playing this year because he can make money on his name, which happens to be widely recognized in the country. He’d not only have LSU fans buying his things but he’d have the young teens and kids in NY or California buying his stuff. A little kid seeing his player quit is not a good look, sorry but it just isn’t. I would never teach my kids to quit because there was some small risk involved, even if I knew that he has already shown everyone his talent. I like Chase and all of the LSU players but I just can’t get on board with this stuff. He could at the very least play as a decoy most games and help them when needed. I think LSU will be fine. Will they miss him, I’m sure they will and it’ll take away that known threat as well but LSU has plenty of talent to keep winning. It’s not about that, it’s the point of the overall matter. It takes away from the team and he committed to this team and university. Kids just don’t have that heart anymore. It’s all about the money now and money ruins everything that’s worth a damn in its purity!!!
