Former LSU defensive lineman Danielle Hunter has reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year, $40.1 million contract extension, including a $30.7 million signing bonus.

Hunter signed a two-year, $49 million deal with the Texans in 2024 after eight seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

Hunter recorded 12 sacks with the Texans in his first year in Houston, followed by 15 sacks this past season.

Over the course of his career, Hunter has recorded 114.5 sacks and 561 tackles, and has been named to five Pro Bowls.

You are probably right, just weirdly worded …

It means he gets at least 30 million. It’s weird that you can sign a contract but they can cut you off at any time.
