Also, remember. This dude is a 22 year old who hasn't even played his first NFL game. It wasn't like he was going out and eating at high end restaurants while in college. How many of you came out of HS knowing what you are suppose to tip, etc? King Nola said that this is common with a lot of athletes and before someone makes it a race thing, he mentioned that it includes athletes from PGA, MLS, MLB.. With that said, just because someone has a lot of money doesn't mean they should leave a big tip. I know DJ left less than the rate that is expected, but you really have no idea what he left the amount that he did. This happened to DeAngelo Williams. He got called out on twitter for leaving a $0.75 tip. It backfired on the person who called him out because Williams tweeted back that after waiting for their food for 1.5hr they received the wrong order, they had to ask for refills twice before the group at his table received them.. And that he thought $0.75 was too much considering the service. You can't judge his just from this one time situation.

First of all Donte Jackson is not the first cheap millionaire athlete when it comes to tipping and he won't be the last. For a few years I worked for Harrah's Casino New Orleans and there was a lot of those very rich athlete's coming through and majority of them was CHEAP! They drink for free drop $100,000 on the tables especially the high roller tables and when it was the millionaire athletes at the tables the waitresses hated working them because they're drinking top shelf liquor and the servers are giving top shelf service and they're actually getting stiffed. And believe it or not the NBA players are the worst and really the player that I worshiped and admired and loved the most who was the baddest cat to ever lace up a basketball shoe was one of the cheapest of them all the G.O.A.T. Michael Jordan. And it's not just the NBA players but NFL, MLB, PGA, MLS all of them not all the players but a decent amount of them were cheap. I know because I was a bartender in NOLA's French Quarter and CDB and I served athletes from every major sport some were great tippers and some were horrible but the same goes for very famous actors and actresses some were great tippers and some were horrible. All I'm saying is we can't judge D.Jack because of the way he tip but judge him on what he does in his hometown community or the Carolina community if he does nothing to better either community then judge him harshly. And for all the folks asking for the server to be fired for posting the receipt (which is really an invasion of privacy and a fireable offense hell a lot of restaurants fire you for asking for an autograph) is not the person who posted it if you look at the top of the receipt the cashier name is the name on the Twitter account unless the server and the cashier is the same. Like that old saying goes 2 wrongs don't make a right and believe me being a 20 year veteran of the serving industry in NOLA both were wrong and this is from someone who smallest tip was 0 and the largest was $3500.00 the thing is in this industry you take the highs and lows of the business. And for the folks on this site telling people to get another job and leave to the HS kids (fast food industry are for HS kids), hell this industry bought my house and two other properties and set me up with a nice bank account. Now I'm not bragging just showing that working in the NOLA serving industry is a very profitable if you work in the right places and manage your money. This was just my 2 cents on the matter.

Probably already said but maybe the service was bad. I waited tables while I was at LSU. At one point, it got so busy and I barely refilled the drinks and the customer asked me to refill, I said sorry and to please not tip me since I neglected them. The guys were cool though and left me a tip. That said, if it were bad service Donte should have defended himself. Otherwise he is a cheap douche.
