Florida head coach Billy Napier spoke with reporters on Monday and was asked about defensive lineman Brendan Bett, who was ejected last week for spitting on a South Florida player.

As of now, Napier said he's unsure of Bett's status for the LSU game on Saturday. Per ESPN:
quote:

"I think he feels as if he let the team down," Napier said. "It was out of character for him. He made a mistake, and he compromised the team. He made a selfish decision, he misrepresented our fans, our alumni, the university. When a young man comes into your office, and that's his immediate concern, is how he didn't represent this place the right way, I think that's a good indication of his attitude towards it."

Napier added there will be "some internal discipline" but has not decided whether he will suspend Betts for Saturday's game at LSU.

So I looked at the replay. Spitting? More like a bucket of fluid came out of his mouth. More like assault and battery.
Anyway if a guy can be suspended half a game for fighting, this should be at least that much. Its a travesty otherwise, and the victim should take him to court for assault and battery

My bet it really wasn’t “out of character”. You don’t just one day decide to spit on someone. I bet if you bothered to look at his history he is a long time spitter.

Why does Napier have to suspend him? Shouldn't the SEC or even the NCAA have disciplinary decisions on actions like this? Whonhas the balls to make the right choice?

What is the deal with players spitting on each other.
This is the third player I’ve heard about this week spitting on another.

FL has LSU, The U and Texas.... Billy isn't suspending this guy for any game and will likely have him run sprints.

There is no way Napier is suspending him for the LSU game. He can try to take the moral high ground and say he doesn’t know if he’ll suspend him, but he already knows he won’t.

Spitting on an opponent which may have caused your team to lose a game. And not suspended the next game? LOL

If Napier hasn’t suspended Bert’s himself, Napier clearly doesn’t stand for anything except trying to save his job. That is a coach that is not a leader of men.

He was ejected from the game. How is it his decision?? Didn’t AJ Hayley get suspended for the 1st half against Clemson for something happened LAST YEAR??

You are absolutely correct. However this is dirty Florida and Huntley Johnson on speed dial.

The referee threw him out of the game. Florida and the head coach need to set a president here and issue at a minimum of a one game suspension. But we all know how a desperate team and a desperate coach will allow to win when you have a thug representing your team and university!

Napier ought to make an example out of this type of behavior and throw the shoe at the offender.

Florida never suspends players for the LSU game. Huntley Johnson on speed dial if they need to get thugs out of jail in time for the game. Dirty program.

So Sun Belt Billy said all of that to also say "he's not sure of the status". LOL spitting in a competitors face deserves more than a quote saying he messed up but really he "dint du nuffin".

Yeah, hes not suspending him for the game. He just lost to USF and his job is in jeopardy hes not going to suspend one of his better players to make it that much harder to win the game. LMFAO
