Brian Kelly's attorneys sent a letter to LSU claiming that the school's conduct since firing him on Oct. 26 "has made it nearly impossible for Coach Kelly to secure other football-related employment." Per ESPN:
quote:

According to the letter, which was sent Nov. 18 to LSU athletic director Verge Ausberry and board of supervisors member John H. Carmouche, Kelly says he "reserves all rights to seek any and all damages to the fullest extent permitted by law" for the interference in any potential job candidacy.

"As you know, there is absolutely no basis to LSU's contrived positions that Coach Kelly was not terminated or that cause existed for such termination," the letter, which was obtained by ESPN, reads. "LSU's conduct, including its failure to confirm that Coach Kelly was terminated without cause and its unsupported allegations of misconduct on the part of Coach Kelly, has made it nearly impossible for Coach Kelly to secure other football-related employment.

"LSU's conduct continues to harm Coach Kelly, particularly during this critical hiring period."

LSU declined to comment because it is part of an ongoing legal matter.

The LSU board of supervisors voted Friday to allow new school president Wade Rousse to formally terminate Kelly. The board did not indicate whether the firing would be for cause or without cause.

Kelly, 64, was initially relieved of his duties Oct. 26, one day after a 49-25 loss to Texas A&M dropped the Tigers to 5-3. At the time, the school made clear in public statements that the dismissal was performance-related.

The job he did did should make it nearly impossible for him to get another job

Not really. If James Franklin can get another job, certainly there's a market for Brian Kelly.

LSU should have fired Kelly with cause for his refusing to talk to some recruits in the recruiting process and his failure in hiring all the bad assistant coaches he hired. His failure in recruiting and failure to find good assistant coaches were major reasons for his failure at LSU.

This is just continuing to show LSU's mishandling of this. If they had fired Kelly since the team was losing, and if they had agreed to pay what they promised in the contract, none of this would be news today. What's more, another school may have hired him by now, leading to the $50 million being reduced quite a bit. Hate Kelly, but LSU is responsible for this mess.

LSU gave him this avenue when they started claiming that he wasn't terminated. Whether he is employable or not, he now gets to claim it is LSU's fault. What school was going to offer him a contract until he was formally fired.

LSU’s athletic hierarchy is making the school look bad. Maybe the “2 cents worth” uninformed governor is forcing the athletic department to drag out the inevitable out of spite. Pay the piper, ya’ll hired him and ya’ll fired him for not winning enough.

BK is making it nearly impossible for BK to find a job. The previous three Head Coaches won NC at LSU. Two, couldn’t have won one anywhere else.

Kelly was an absentee member of the coaching staff. He was supposed to be an offensive mind. WRONG! He sat on the sidelines while Sloan had no clue. Did nothing about it. It is clear to me he got paid and coasted.

Not LSU conduct, it is his performance that makes other schools stay away.

Hope y'all understand that as a part of his contract agreement, he has to try and find another job in order to keep collecting. His fat lazy arse isn't looking for anything. This is lawyers trying to get him out of having to do his due diligence in searching for another coaching job.

Brian Kelly is responsible for his lackluster coaching and winning record while at LSU for not being able to land a new job. In fact, why at his age does he think he can contribute to a new HC gig? He don’t need the damn money!

The term "performance related issues" can certainly be seen as "at cause" issues. Very broad statement indeed.

Please, do not worry. Soon, Brian Kelly will be throwing his attorneys under the bus!!

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Kelly ( I can’t stand the sight of him or the sound of his voice), he and his attorneys are making LSU look like an arse.
