LSU lost a commitment from talented four-star 2020 defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson this week.

There were rumbling on Wednesday that Jackson had reopened his recruitment and he confirmed the news with a Twitter announcement on Thursday.

Jackson, a 6-2, 280-pound prospect from Lucedale, MS (George County HS) originally gave his commitment to Ed Orgeron while visiting campus for the Texas A&M game this past season. His departure means that LSU does not have any verbal commitments for the class of 2020, for now.

Jackson is rated the No. 3 defensive tackle in the country and the No. 1 overall player from Mississippi, according to 247Sports' 2020 rankings. He already holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Florida State, among others.

When a kid commits two years in advance, it's a given that there's a decommitment these days.

Thanks for the rational answer. This happens all the time but there will be plenty of people attacking Orgeron over this. LOL!

kids these days make it all about themselves and have a lot of outside influences pushing them 2 yrs out = looooong time

2020?? Who the F cares and expects otherwise. Recruiting has become a circus act.

Why do we even post when a kid commits? Commit means nothing, especially two years out.

Well, Coach Oeux won't be there in 2020 so he may recommit

Why do coaches even accept commits that far out? Like someone said...it's a circus.

It’s two years away. He’ll recommit and recommit twice between now and then.

Why is this even a headline on TD? It's 2020. This is not news. It's not even an event.

Exactly. A "commitment" for the class of 2020? The 2018 class isn't on campus yet. This is so stupid.

There is a 5th grader in Mandeville who is rethinking his commitment for the class of 2025 now. He said he thinks he is going to open things back up so he can take some trips and enjoy himself in this "once in a lifetime opportunity". It must be Orgeron's fault if we lose this commitment.

Is this really worthy of a comment? You people are desperate to comment on 'anything' football. This is a 'non-event'. OK......ready for 'INCOMING'!!!

Who gives a frick....you have to be pretty stupid to think a kid ranked as high as he is, is going to stick to his commitment at the ripe ole age of 16..2020..2 yrs away..LSU is not Bama, Ohio State or Clemson...deal with it...

Why take any commitment for 2020 seriously? Commitment? Ha-ha-ha!

16-18 year old kids have no fricking clue what the word commitment means. Not just this guy... all the people bitching in these comments need to take this a little less seriously and give their own lives a bit more attention.

Who cares? Have we not learned from Surtain that these spoiled children's word means zero UNTIL they SIGN?
