LSU head coach Matt McMahon met with reporters after Wednesday's loss to Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament and discussed the Tigers' disappointing season.

LSU finished with a 14-17 overall record (3-15 SEC) in McMahon's third season as head coach. He holds a 45-47 (.489) overall record in his three seasons, going 14-35 in conference play.

A report surfaced back in February that McMahon will be back next season for his fourth year, with additional NIL resources headed to the basketball program.

Thank you Coach for not going to a rival SEC team. This board would have imploded.
Best of luck in your future.

Losing is bad enough, but being embarrassed on the court is what kills fan support.

Buckle up, he is back for the 2026' season. Start spending this NIL money ASAP and get players who can compete in the SEC.

Man he hit the lottery getting a job at LSU. Woodward swings big and misses more often than not.

“Matt, why in 3 years has every guard you have brought in been a head case, been benched, feigned injury, smoked weed, left the program, not improved, and have had negative impacts on the team? NOT ONE has succeeded. Wouldn’t you agree that’s the most important positions in basketball and you have failed at finding winners?” Let someone else rebuild for the FOURTH time please. 3 strikes is enough

He is not 14-35 in conference. The wiki page lists this as his conference record but it doesn't add up its own numbers correctly. He is 14-43. We play 18 conference games a season. He's gone 2-16, 9-9, 3-15.
14-40 regular season, 0-3 SEC tournament.

shite his overall record here is wrong too. He's 45-52 if you add up the season totals.

The NEW dichotomy for LSU basketball, losing is the paradigm , losing with grace, losing is paramount because all the other athletic programs are winning and one program must falter to show LSU is humble in losing. Mcneese has dominated their conference the last two years. Remember Omaha the only team LSU has lost to in Baseball well their basketball team is headed to the tournament. Overall the most to blame is Scott Woodward

They can't. Don't have the money, well they do but would put the university in more of a bind. They are stuck with this dude like TX atm was for so long til came up with funds. Lsu is paying Brian kelly a ton of funds, they owe that dude another 70 million right now, and need to fund a project for an new basketball arena along with renovating some buildings on campus and funding NIL to all or most their athletes. Lsu is broke enough to cannot fire him right now.

We need to give up on mens basketball at LSU. Even the professional league is dying. It’s a dying sport.

He's a good man, but not good for LSU. He may even make it to a sweet 16 or elite 8 somewhere... in the mid-majors.

Does anybody care anymore? Time to move on IMO.
