Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports
LSU freshman forward Naz Reid announced on Instagram Tuesday that he has declared for the NBA Draft.

The Ashbury, New Jersey native averaged 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds during his the 2018-2019 season and was named to the All-Freshman Team by SEC Coaches.

He becomes LSU's first one-and-done player since Ben Simmons declared for the 2016 NBA Draft after his freshman season.

Here was Reid's announcement:
quote:

First I want to thank God As I write this most humble post, I want to secondly express how truly incredible this past season has been for me. LSU has changed my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined. Uprooting my life and moving from New Jersey to Louisiana posed its own challenges, but the family waiting for me on the court made the transition as wonderful as it could possibly be. Attending LSU and playing as a Tiger this year has been an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. I want to say thank you to every single person who helped me along the way; I wouldn’t be here without your love and support.

It is with this that I announce I will be leaving LSU to pursue my dream of being a professional basketball player. I will be entering the NBA Draft with an agent in hopes of finally fulfilling a dream I believe is my destiny. I cannot imagine doing anything else and, again, would not be in this position without all of you and everyone who has ever believed in and supported me. Thank you to my LSU family for welcoming me with open arms. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.

Sincerely Yours,
Naz Reid

Definitely could have used another year to perfect his skills... but with the cloud hovering over WW and the program... I guess I can’t blame him. Good luck Son!

I like Naz too and wish the best for him. I think he needs another year, not ready for NBA, my opinion...It's going to be Europe next year or G League..And that is a crap shoot to get in the NBA...Hiring a agent, OK, that isn't good either get an opinion before hiring a agent......If your not a lottery pick wait to the next year and become the lottery pick..So you can get guaranteed money, who is advising him..

I think he should have come back too, but At the same time I think he played hard and he's a good tiger, no one on here is changing his mind and it's just really embarrassing how much our fanbase shits on players when they leave

He ain’t ready for the NBA, he got shut down several times this season, and is very clumsy with the basketball. He should stay and work on his game. But I don’t blame him, with the shite show that LSU admins are pulling...

No reason to be mad at this young man. He played hard for LSU and doesn't owe LSU or its fans anything.... Good luck young man. Go earn some money.

Geaux Naz!! I’m happy for him. It’s gotta be a hard choice between getting more experience and getting paid.

As expected but he doesn't look like a fluid one and done freshman. Wish him the BEST of luck and I wonder if the WW saga affected his decision.

Wow, what a bunch of butt hurt "fans" busting on one of ours that decided to cash in. Good luck Naz, thanks for being a part of LSU basketball.

He will get drafted, and paid. He has some fine tuning to do to his game but they will coach him up pretty quick. 5 years in the NBA, then a few overseas leaves him financially good for life, as long as he has good financial awareness.

I wish him the very best and hope he makes it. From what I saw, he plays too much like a guard in a forward's body. But, the NBA is evolving to that. Maybe he realizes his potential. I hope so.

He will be drafted, but I do not know he will play here, Someone will let him play overseas and hold his rights here.
