An anonymous NBA scout that goes by the name of "Finch" had some interesting comments about LSU forward Ben Simmons and his one year in Baton Rouge. Per CampusRush.com:
quote:

Ben Simmons, 6'10" freshman forward, LSU: "I would take him first. He's a transcendent player because of his size and his ability to play multiple positions. Shooting is a concern, but that kind of size and skill set doesn't come along very often. There were a lot of things going on with his teammates at LSU. There's no denying he has a big sense of self-entitlement. He's got an aloofness to him that is concerning. The LSU thing was just a s--- show. There was too much allowed to happen. You had a film crew following him around all year. Whatever the concerns, he had one of the most successful college seasons we've seen in recent years. You wonder if he ends up like [Knicks forward] Carmelo Anthony, someone who's a great player but not a winning player."
Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game last season at LSU. He is expected to be drafted with one of the top 2 picks on Thursday.

Can't argue with that. Same can be said for every season since JJ has been here

Simmons has an aloofness about him and a sensecof entitlement? Man is that an understatement.

I just wish JJ would have coached the same way as he says the players played

Did we really need an anonymous scout to tell us all of this?

That may be true, but the important question is Simmons the reason?

Did it really hurt him? He is still likely going #1 overall. Could he have made any more money if he went to UK?

We turned down the NIT because of this guy..... imagine being a senior and you don't even get to play in your final chance because of a prissy freshmen

We didn't turn down anything. Simmons said he wouldn't play in the NIT. NIT told Alleva "no Simmons, no invite". The whole "we turned down an invite" thing was to save face. Classic case of the tail wagging the dog.

Now that no huge recruits will come to LSU after this, JJ will be left in the ocean without a paddle. He'll be out sooner rather than later. Terrible coach.

Carmelo was a winner. He put Syracuse on his back and won the 2003 Natty. Ben Simmons...SEC semis and got blown out by 40 points.

If Keith Hornsby drove a Prius into the Gulf of Mexico, Johnnie's reaction would be something along the lines of..."Keith drove that hybrid car with great energy and put forth tremendous effort."

If Ben Simmons goes #1 in the draft, who cares? So what? As an LSU fan why should I care? What benefit for LSU came out of the entire Ben Simmons 1 year experiment? Nothing.

Word on the 76'ers is that they need JJ to help mentor / coach BS. They saw how great they were at LSU. JJ, on behalf of the Tiger Nation, please take the job.

He had a terrible team around him in college. He went something like 68-1 in high school so I think he knows how to win with a good team around him.
