Former LSU star pitcher Paul Skenes sent a thank you message out on social media Tuesday night; check it out:
quote:

@paulskenes

It has taken me a while to really reflect on this past year and think about everything we accomplished as a team, together.

This past year has been the most gratifying and rewarding year of my life. From the beginning of the fall at LSU to now, the relationships, personal development, and experiences have made this year special. The people I have met and shared my experiences with have been a huge blessing. Without them, I would not be where I am, and we would not have accomplished what we did.

Looking back, I never thought this year could have transpired as it did. We had the goal of a national championship at the beginning of the fall, and while I knew it was possible. I never thought about how it would feel to be in this position-looking back on the year as a national champion. The people we had-our coaches, trainers, and players-made it possible

I am honored to be a part of the team that won it all, and everything we accomplished we did together. That made this year special. As I say goodbye to LSU as a player, all I can think about is how special this year has been, and i'm humbled to be a part of such a special group of people that achieved so much.

Move over Big Ben, there's a new 'Top Gun' in LSU's history books.

Interesting that he was thankful for the team, but that he is silent on the institution of LSU itself.

Perhaps understandable, given that he came from the Air Force Academy, so I’ll give him a pass there.

But precisely because he came from the academy, I’m not going to just assume it’s an accidental omission, either.

Paul, thank you for choosing LSU. You could have taken your talent anywhere in the country but you chose us. And we supported you like one our own. You are now a Tiger for Life and welcome back “home” anytime! Best of luck to you.

I already miss that little "frick off, you're arse got struck out" gesture he threw up after big outs. Living LSU legend. It was an honor to watch him pitch for LSU. I'm making it a goal of mine to catch one of big league starts fully decked out in LSU gear right behind home plate. Same for Crews.
