Thats a balk. Ball left pitchers hand after he started his windup. Totally not legal and ump is dumb.

A balk is only called to prevent the pitcher from confusing runners on base. If there are no runners, no balk. I'm not aware of any rules preventing confusing the batter.

It the ump thought it was a balk, the pitch could have been called a ball since no one was on base.

That is a balk. If no runners on base then the pitch is called a ball.

That was not worth the risk of balking or bad pitch. In Ville platte, coach Donny would’ve made you run for days for something like that.
