Longtime golf personality and ESPN host Scott Van Pelt recently introduced an idea to help the pace of play in professional golf...
quote:

"Golf would benefit greatly if there were sort of a clock that we knew when it started and when it hits zero, you get a warning and then you get a penalty,” Scott Van Pelt said during an appearance on "The Dan Patrick Show."

“Because the game does take a long time to get moving.”

Outlaw all electronic devices and reference books. These guys look like they're filing their taxes, not playing golf when they're out on the course.

So no yardage book or range finder? Guys playing for paychecks and you want them to wing it? Golf is golf. It's a slower game. They want to speed up tournament play then let them use carts. Golf isn't meant to be a fast paced game.

If you take away yardage books you’ll have caddies pacing off every shot.

That would slow the game down even more
