Georgia coach Kirby Smart was on the Cubelic and McElroy in the Morning show this week and talked about one NCAA rule he would change. Per On3:
quote:

“I would probably look into something uniform for NIL,” said Smart. “There’s a certain point where certain players have an ability to make a lot of money, and I think that’s great for the guys that have earned it, that are marketable – just like the same guys in the NFL earn it and get it. There’s certain positions that get more than others.

“But if you could make it a uniform deal where the schools that have the capacity to give – some schools can’t afford to do NIL, some schools just don’t have the support base to do that – but the schools that are marketable and they can do that, it would be nice to be able to give each one something. But not make it out of control that it effects the game. I think that’s hard to do. It’s hard to manage because every situation’s different, every player’s different. … Thing’s change over the course of time and the market kind of sets itself in that regard.”

said it for the last 3/4 years. there is no way to regulate it without interference from the IRS (government) this was a disaster in the making... should have never been done...

Les Miles wordsmith award for the week goes to Kirby. That quote makes zero sense. "Wish we could give some NIL to every player in a uniform way...some schools can't afford to do it....and some schools can so maybe the market can set itself for the ones that can." WTH is he trying to even say.

I'd start with adjusting the targeting rules, particularly someone running the ball. I've also always thought fair catches could use some work. I'm not sure what... maybe an air horn or something. Sometimes tough for gunners to know if there's a fair catch called or not.

Let's see... I can make $7 Million a year, but let's try to keep the players from making too much money.

Kirby has learned from the master at paying players which is exactly why he won. Now he sees his buddy Jimbo and ex Bama coach at UT with those massive pocketbooks joining paying players. Funny how 3/4 coaches I mentioned coached on the same staff at LSU…

One rule I'd like to change is player with ball falls on his own can get up and continue as the pros do.

Think Kirby just said UGA pays players directly.

I thought NIL had nothing to do with the schools themselves

Nice to see him stake a position, no I mean this position, no, wait, another position, well, it's hard, he means, he doesn't know what his position is. And that's his position on it. Probably.
