Watch Heaven Fitch Become 1st Female Wrestler To Win State Title In North Carolina
© Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports
Watch Heaven Fitch become the first female wrestler win an individual wrestling state championship in North Carolina. Congratulations to her!!!

PerThe Guardian...
quote:

Fitch became interested in wrestling after watching her older brothers competing, and fought against them when she was younger. She said at first she had to convince her parents to let her wrestle. “I nagged my parents, basically, because I wanted to do what [my brothers] did,” Fitch told the Independent Tribune in 2018. “They didn’t want me to wrestle. I’m pretty sure it was because they didn’t want me to get hurt. But I would just be like, ‘Well, if they can do it, then I should be able to do it.’”

On Saturday, her perseverance paid off. “I just wrestled my best, and I kind of dominated the match, if I’m being honest,” Fitch told WTVD.

North Carolina isn't known as a wrestling hot bed...and that match showed why

Amazing accomplishment for her. The fact that they let her wrestle males is exposing the governing body to a lot of risk

That is some real weak competition for a state wrestling tournament

Pretty sure she's just stronger than that guy (better technique too).

Better technique will usually win out if they're both the same size.

I’d move to another country if I was the guy that got beat by her.

This boy's friends will never let him live that down.

And they shouldn't. Dudes should be embarrassed.

Wrestling is different from many sports, being divided by weight class. I'd imagine though, that generally, testosterone would give a guy an advantage over an equal weight female? Though here, it looks like she outmaneuvered him, so brute strength isn't everything.

That was a heck of a move she made to get out of that hold and turn the tables on that dude. Her brothers taught her well.

Google her. She weighs 106 lbs. the boys she beat look like they’re in 7th grade. Good for her, but hold on before anointing her wwf champ.

If it’s a female that was born a female and those boys are in her age and weight class then it’s an incredible accomplishment.

Interesting that NC would allow girls to compete against males in such a physically engaging sport in which your competitor is not wearing a lot. It is not like she beat them in basketball or football... this is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

People downvote but there was a big deal about a male water polo player groping a female in Illinois a few years ago.
