Former Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville Rips Into Auburn's Football Program over the Bob Stoops dr
Rob Leifheit-USA TODAY Sports
Earlier this week, there was talk about Auburn having private talks with former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, even though Gus Malzahn is still currently the head coach. Stoops denied the whole thing, which makes it all a little awkward for everyone involved. During “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5, former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville discussed all this drama over the past 24 hours. Per AL.com...
quote:

“Unbelievable, isn’t it?” Tuberville asked.

“It’s a complete mess, to be honest with you. There are too many people up there trying to make a decision. Obviously, they don’t have a clue what they are doing.”

“I don’t know anyone out there that wants to get into this mess,” Tuberville said. “Do you think Bob Stoops wants to get into this mess? He dropped a better job than this.”

Somebody tell Tubs to take his wife for a drink and let her drive home.

I’ve been watching Auburn football since 1979, and I’ve never seen a more up and down program. Only a year ago, they beat Alabama AND Georgia. According to history, they should be undefeated next year, but it may take longer this time. They have great fans.

Tuberville: the coach who told his team (Ole Miss) he wasn't leaving the program then slipped out the back door of the locker room 15 minutes later. Pure class.

If I remember the story correctly, Tuberville also left a recruitment dinner or something like that when he was at Texas Tech to take a phone call from Cincinnati, and never returned. Not only left the dinner, but left Tech that night as well. Tommy certainly is a "class act."

That's because they pulled the same crap on him while he was at Auburn. Maybe it was Petrino they interviewed? Can't recall.

"Maybe it was Petrino they interviewed? Can't recall." Yup. Petrino was HC at Louisville at the time. They flew him in on a private plane. IIRC, someone broke the story after identifying the flight based on the tail numbers on the plane.

Tuberville and Paul Finebaum should get together to see who has the biggest ears.

Got to admit, them barners are stranger than maggots when it comes to their coaches. They just can't seem to like the one they're with!

Barners are just a strange group altogether. They have this burning desire to try and prove they are relevant. This goes for the school and Auburn alum. If you ever meet an alum, they’ll tell you they went to Auburn two minutes into the conversation, then mention Auburn 50 times in a brief conversation. We all went to college. Auburn’s not special. Get over it.
