Inflation is crazy. Auburn spent $180k to win a championship in 2010. Michigan spent $20M to win one in 2024.

Deal of the century for Auburn in hindsight. $180k is chicken shite money in this NIL era of buying players.

"What a career for #2"? More like what a year.

Had he been at Auburn for multiple years he would be talked about as one of the greatest ever. With only one season it's hard to make that argument.

Not too bad to get your number retired by spending less 12 months at the school.

I hate that we're at a place in sports where playing one year at a school is enough to get your number retired the same as 3 and 4 year guys that bled school colors from when they were in diapers, committed to your school, played numerous seasons at your school and set career long records that mean something. Cam was a great player but he was just a mercenary. He didn't and doesn't bleed orange and navy anymore than Tom Petty gave a rip about Gator Football. Give him a staute, put him in the ring of honor but save jersey retirement for multi-year superstars

I get your sentiment, but if you ask those 4 year dudes if they’re glad Cam was there, pretty sure they’d all look at their championship ring and say “absolutely”. Cam is a weirdo but his jersey should absolutely be hanging high.

I don't always wish arse cancer on former college players, but when I do... It's ALWAYS Cam Newton & Nick Fairley.
