Alabama head coach Nick Saban Says Jalen Hurts Has Made Decision and he will not transfer.....
© Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports
The big drama Alabama had to deal with this offseason was at their quarterback position. Then-freshman QB Tua Tagovailoa led the team to a national championship in the second half of the College Football Playoff title game, while QB Jalen Hurts started all season. This left everyone to believe Hurts would most likely transfer. According to Nick Saban, that is not his decision. Per ESPN...

Saban, however, told ESPN’s Sage Steele on Tuesday that Hurts told him he was staying at Alabama after the coach fielded a question about the quarterback’s future during SEC media days.

“Jalen actually came to me and said … ‘I am going to be here. I am going to be here. I came here to get an education. I graduate in December, and I’m going to be here,’” Saban said Hurts told him.

Gonna be lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth if Hurts xfers, and Tua is injured.

you guys forget that Tua...so far has been injury prone and only played in one half. He has broke his thumb twice in the off season. Jalen is one play away....Look at UGA last year. This is the SEC Jalen has been very tough last year with the hits, not sure Tua will make it.

Who cares if he loses a year or has 2. He graduates, and is draftable. Accomplishes what he set out to do, and parents can be proud. Key thing is if he wants to be a QB in the nfl. If he doesnt care he'll get picked for all his positives, and play. If he does care then he really needs to get out of bama asap as qbw worth a lick in the league is not what they produce.

"He graduates, and is draftable"... say what?!? I'm a Hurts fan, but no way in the world he'll play QB in the NFL.

reminds me of “I am the coach of LSU, I will be the coach of LSU, I love being here. Aight!”

That tells me the starter is chosen and Hurts knows it's not him. No doubt

Kid should stick around till Dec. watch what Sabah does. Refuse to play in trash games or mop up situations. If he remains starter he has no prob. If saban tries to start Tua he holds the ability to retain a year via red shirting then transfer asap

Play in less than four game take a red shirt, get a degree, then transfer and have two years to get a free postgraduate degree. Apparently there are some smart people in Alabama after all.

Makes the midgets decision much easier now. What are the Vegas odds on who starts for Bama now? I’ll take Tua for a $1,000 Alex.

"Makes the midgets decision much easier now." ... I think you've got it backwards. Hurts' decision is based on Saban's decision to start Tua, which is pretty much already made.

Yea after December he can transfer anywhere he wants without sitting out. Kids smart.

True but he would still lose this year. Whereas if he only played in UP TO 4 games, he could then sit the remaining games this year, transfer and STILL have 2 years left. If he plays in 5+ games and transfers, he only has 1 year of eligibility left.
