During Wednesday's media availability, Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke in favor of college football allowing players to use helmet radios...
quote:

“I do think the helmet communicator is probably a real positive for the game. Everybody should — you can’t steal signs or do any of this stuff if you have a helmet communicator and I think it’s, I think it would be a good thing. It’s worked out well in the NFL and I also think it’s good to have one guy on defense that you could tell that guy what the call is without having to go through all this signaling process,” Saban said, per Bama247's Mike Rodak.

The biggest difference is in the NFL everyone is operating from the same basic financial level.

In college, the LSUs, Alabama's and Ohio States can afford the upgrades. But the Grand Valley States and Akrons of the college football world may not.

Agree with Saban. Bring your own stuff and have tech guy verify it's a closed system.

It can’t be “closed” if you’re using a radio transmitter. There are very few discreet freqs available for that kind of use and I can scan all of em

Before people think this is some new thing Saban thought up, people have been bringing this up for years and years. NFL has had it for 20+ years now.

QB only. And one guy on D, usually the mike. They have a green sticker on the back of the helmet denoting who has the ear piece

If Nick thinks it's a good idea the NCAA will be "experimenting" with it within the next year or two.

Not to mention, people pay premium prices for those seats and you can't see over the big arse boards, signs, and curtains.
