Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea is making his case and believes a 10-2 team in the SEC is better than a 10-2 team anywhere else in the country...
quote:

“This should be about the 12 best teams in the country and a 10-2 team in the SEC … look, obviously we love our league. It just means more here and all that kind of stuff, but there’s a level of respect that needs to be held for the gauntlet we’ve been through and how we’ve met the match and done the things we need to do,” Lea told OutKick this week. “I mean, it is just absurd the idea that we’re going to open the door to teams that play in conferences that aren’t the SEC that have the same record we have. I mean, it’s crazy.

“That is the system, so that’s where the work needs to be focused on — fixing it. But some of the goalposts moving is this idea that the top five conference champions are allowed into the playoff. I’ve seen some projections now with teams that have no business being in, and yet, they’re included.”

Maybe his argument should have been a 10-2 SEC team should get in over a 9-3 SEC team any day.

After the results of last year's bowl games, maybe it would be better to say something like this after the season.

Yep. I' said this THE day that this format was introduced. Auto conference champ bids are stupid when you don't play but 2 ranked teams. Hell, SMU didn't play any ranked teams last year. This is the reason the NCAA basketball tourney went from only conference champs in the early 70's to 32 teams because they ACC had 3 of the best teams in America.

Expand the playoffs. Remove one week of OOC games from team schedules. Oh wait, if expanded it does provide absolute proof, once and for all, the SEC is in a league of its own!!

Watching the success of Vanderbilt has actually been an entertaining run. Sucks they appear full of of themselves with just two full seasons of success

Does the FCS ever have this much drama with playoffs? Does FBS just need to adopt that system? You can't look at it like the NFL cause there's only 32 teams. There needs to be a big arse conference sit down with every school thats usually in contention. Schedules need to be adjusted. If you want to be in the playoffs, no more cupcake OOC games. College football as we all knew it is dead anyway, just cut the cord.

Why dont you set up that game with Miami. They would run over you like a Mack truck. Especially if it were neutral refs

How many other NCAA teams were allowed to play with a QB that played 6 competitive seasons without a redshirt? none that I know of, ever.
