re: Teams with New Coaches- 3-4 year expectations?

Next year may be State's best year for awhile. There will be a lot of NFL talent on that defense and maybe even a few on offense but most will be gone after next year.
Moorehead is already making inroads at recruiting and I expect the level of athlete in Starkville to surpass the Mullen era. If he can recruit in the top 15 consistently while adding that raw Mississippi talent, look out for that SEC West title or even better. But, you gotta have the players first.
After I see that happen a few years, get back with me on those championships.

I can't really understand it because they have recruited well. They certainly won't win half their SEC games and will be lucky to win 6 or 7. They really aren't very good even if they are 11-1.
I had season tickets for a number of years and thought about it again next year.
I am no longer able to fly my plane after my stroke, I have to sell my plane and put those extra fun $$$ somewhere. That cash burner might as well be basketball tickets, they seem like a better investment than Bitcoin.
I live 25 minutes from campus and can make most games. They used to be fun.

Cardboard Boxer?
How about corrugated container?
I don't owe Florida anything. I was just throwing my two cents in to what I thought of Dan's recruiting talents.
I got pissed at what appeared to be laziness in recruiting the last few years and tired of what seemed of the forever rumors of him leaving.
We have Moorhead now, I am loving this guy. I would wish you guys luck with Mullen but I wouldn't mean it.

Mullen and his recruiting at Florida vs State
Posted by More Cowbell 1963 on 12/6/17 at 6:49 pm
I have seen several State guys talk about Mullen's recruiting and how it sucked at State. He did get a bit lazy at times and some of his assistants (Hev) suck at it. We all seem to agree that they coach em up though.
My two cents:
Mullen can evaluate talent like few others. He will find some guys that no one else finds. He will not worry about stars. If you see him offer a two star guy, don't worry, that guy most likely can play and help him out after a year to two. He has his method of evaluation and it works.
I think Mullen did limit himself in Starkville. He was known to laugh at the idea that one of his assistants could bring in a certain recruits to State. I don't think he ever really "believed" in Starkvegas as a place that he could attract top talent. So, he never went after them or gave up quickly.
I do think he got a bit lazy and missed on some guys that he should have gotten. He knows he can't get away with that at Florida.
Bottom line, those issues won't service at Florida. He believes in that place.
If I were a Florida fan, his recruiting would not be my concern. Mullen will fill that roster with excellent players. Even if he ends up falling on his face due to his other limitations, your cubbard will not be empty for the next guy.
My two cents as a State fan.

I am hearing all kinds of stuff from: Grantham has cleaned his office out to Cohen working miracles to keep him by giving him time to decide.
What's true? Who the heck knows? State might just end up in a better situation coaching wise than they were this year. Is that even possible?
If so, how good can they really get?

re: Sunday Morning Headline, "MSU Upsets Bama"... Tell me how it happens?

State wins by dominating the run game. No way they can do that vs BAMA. This is a horrible match-up for them.
So, how can they win?
State has to get bunch of breaks, turnovers etc.. and play the best game of their life. Then and only then do they have a shot.
Score would be something like 16-14 with Bama missing a chip shot field goal as time expires.
I guess anything is possible.

Raw Deal? He had no clue how to be head coach and never should have gotten the job!
You didn't watch team after team unable to complete a pass against air. Dude had no clue. I was at the 3-2 game vs Auburn. We got a turnover on the Auburn 40 and went backwards.
Good Guy, sure but not anything about him says Head Coach.
Thing is, if he had just fired the joke of OC, State may have kept him. But he .... Wait...
Bait taken

This year's State team would beat last year's by 40 as well.
Obviously many of the players are the same but they have grown tremendously. The defense has a much better coach at the helm as well.
There also has been several JuCo's come in and be major contributors.
As a State fan it's been fun to watch the transformation but we really don't know how good they are do we. I mean LSU did shite the bed a lot in that game. I had thought our best team may be next year when Fitz is a senior and has all his abilities maxed. We won't lose a ton next year either unless some of these guys go early for the draft.
Hopefully, this group has a couple really good years. I am even hopeful that Mullen has started building this thing to be sustainable.

He claimed it was a mis-dial. Then the University kept looking and found a pattern.
They didn't say what that pattern was other than they said that if this was public knowledge, they would have to fire him.
So, he resigned with no buyout and no agreement. This leaves us to speculate what they found but it was enough for him to give up and go away.

Well, you kind of support it if you watch sports
I know, that's a main reason I am watching less and less these days. Too many athletes get away with too much. Why? We have too many former coaches in power in our educational system, at least in my state. I try to love the game but dang it gets hard sometimes. I have lost so much respect for coaches. They really have no idea what real educating is about and yet they get the job of running our schools. No one should ever be allowed in administration of any school if they ever coached anything. This just in, Coaches are not educators! They play games. The teachers are the ones that are educators.
There was a new law was just passed in Mississippi. You must have a doctorate degree to be a Superintendent. Few coaches will do that kind of work, they are a lazy bunch. Maybe things will change here. I am not holding my breath.

Dang, even the kid from Stanford only scored a 21. These are some dumb arse people. i would be willing to bet that everyone here tonight could probably score at least 20 on it if they really tried.
Running backs really must be the dumbest people on the planet. Nevermind, draft his arse number 1

Nope, not enough said.. Just because you are smart, doesn't mean you have self control. JF does not compute.
Nor does being smart doesn't mean you have the drive to be good at football. A dumb player could have that drive.
But, scoring an 11 on the Wonderlic does mean something. If I had him on my team, I would not expect him to understand a damn thing I said other than, "Run Forrest Run!" Sure draft him, but you better understand how to use a dumb as frick player. Most NFL teams could use him, he is an amazing athlete and will play well but he may also miss tons of assignments to drive his coaches crazy. I would spend a high draft pick on his arse myself but if he dropped in my lap cheap... dang right. He can make a difference.

My honest answer, we don't have the fan base and money to force our way out of these road games. Simple as that.

Not happening.. I will be watching but this would be a bigger upset than the "80 Olympic Hockey team vs Russia.
This ain't happening, now let's show up and play a real full game against these robots and loose by less than 20!!!!

The only SEC town shittier than Oxford, is Starkville. Thats a fact. Would never go back again under any circumstances.
I was passing through Baton Rouge one night on my way to Texas. Two swampy Cajun sounding dudes tried to roll me. I never intend to stop there again. Starkville and Oxford > Baton Rouge... At least I don't get killed in those places just trying to grab some breakfast.

No one really believes that Freeze isn't anything but a liar and cheat but Ole Miss fans. That's why this isn't getting any more play.
If an ..input SEC team here other than Ole Miss... ex-player said something like this.. it would be huge but it's old news for the Rebs.
This just in, "Freeze is a liar and cheat!" Uh, we know that... next topic
