I have seen several State guys talk about Mullen's recruiting and how it sucked at State. He did get a bit lazy at times and some of his assistants (Hev) suck at it. We all seem to agree that they coach em up though.

My two cents:

Mullen can evaluate talent like few others. He will find some guys that no one else finds. He will not worry about stars. If you see him offer a two star guy, don't worry, that guy most likely can play and help him out after a year to two. He has his method of evaluation and it works.

I think Mullen did limit himself in Starkville. He was known to laugh at the idea that one of his assistants could bring in a certain recruits to State. I don't think he ever really "believed" in Starkvegas as a place that he could attract top talent. So, he never went after them or gave up quickly.

I do think he got a bit lazy and missed on some guys that he should have gotten. He knows he can't get away with that at Florida.

Bottom line, those issues won't service at Florida. He believes in that place.

If I were a Florida fan, his recruiting would not be my concern. Mullen will fill that roster with excellent players. Even if he ends up falling on his face due to his other limitations, your cubbard will not be empty for the next guy.

My two cents as a State fan.

Thank you for coming clean.

Now explain to us why y’all care so much about trying to set the record straight for Florida fans? What do you owe them?

Mullen sucks at recruiting when he has to compete for the elites against the elite coaches/schools. Just like he sucks in game coaching vs the elite coaches. He tucks his tail and goes after the nobodies with good size/athleticism and justifies this to himself by his ego telling him he can turn any 2* into a 4* once he coaches them up. You will soon come to realize Florida that Don Muffin has a gigantic ego that few rival.

Cardboard Boxer?

How about corrugated container?

I don't owe Florida anything. I was just throwing my two cents in to what I thought of Dan's recruiting talents.

I got pissed at what appeared to be laziness in recruiting the last few years and tired of what seemed of the forever rumors of him leaving.

We have Moorhead now, I am loving this guy. I would wish you guys luck with Mullen but I wouldn't mean it.

Wow, it was hard to recruit at MSU when going against Alabama? Never would have thought it.

I'm not trying to be pretentious, but Florida is a much, much easier place to recruit. He took you guys to your only #1 ranking in the inception of your program. I hate to break it to you but your school isn't a destination school.

Hate to break it to you but it’s not a dumpster fire either.

Florida isn't a dumpster fire by any stretch of the imagination. Signing Day is going to be very good for Florida.

We lost 24 players over the course of the year, our head coach and all four captains and were starting 18 underclassmen by the end of the year.

I'm perfectly content with where we are right now -- would have loved to overcome those but most coaches can't get by without all of their captains, playmakers and top tier talent.

Explain to us why you’re hopping into State/UF threads about Mullen’s lazy recruiting. Why do you care so much about what State fans are caring about, gaybo?

Mullen is such a bad recruiter with the elite 5 star guys he once lost Cam Newton, a player he had already coached for over a year, to Auburn in the last week of recruiting. He had Cam ringing a cowbell and everything and still couldn't hold onto him.

If Mullen wasn't a scientologist he might have been more willing to help old Cecil build that church.

Y’all are about the only fan base I haven’t really engaged with on the Rant so I was just trying to show an interest in something you care about for conversation. I assumed that y’all are such basic bitches that y’all have no perspective on the situation to even talk about it rationally, but I wanted you to prove me wrong. So far my original hypothesis was veracious.
