OPELIKA, Alabama -- The Harvey Updyke trial came to a stunning conclusion before it had even started when Judge Jacob Walker ruled this morning that the jury pool was so tainted that it was impossible for Updyke to receive a fair trial.
Dawg gone!

Hmm ... Where would you place Mike Fontenot? Are you listing based on batting average, alone?

Thanks banjeaux for nice post and being civil....
Thanks for the positive comment, MetryTyger. I'm big enough to get off the porch and run with the big dogs.

Nice story- but whoever wrote the article gave Ohio St 4 bonus point, FWIW. (Final in that BCSCG was 38-24)
Thanks for noticing, oleheat. An old obnoxious gas emitter started that thread. I made him edit it.

The OP is a gump. Do not confuse this with goodwill.
Sir, Goodwill is a haberdashery for some of us. I hope there's nothing wrong with that. Oh! Though there never was an attempt to hide my identity, you still earned an award. Community Coffee will taste real good in this ...

Thanks for posting banjeaux. Funny how other team's fans can appreciate what we have but some so called LSU fans can never like Miles no matter how successful he has been. I have an uncle that gripes about our coach. Drives me nuts.
TexasTiger89, from living in Louisiana for 39 years (Slidell 34), I count among my friends many LSU fans, one a long time Tiger Stadium field marshal. Likely, your uncle and other fans who don't like Coach Miles, will learn to love him when he leaves.

They think they own LSU.
would be pretty stupid to go 1-1 against us last year and think that qualifies as "owning" someone.
Indeed, for one think Bama owns LSU would be much more than pretty stupid, drexl. Before the BCS Championship, we knew we were staring at 0 - 3. Like all fans bases, we have our idiots, i.e., Harvey Updike, Brian Downing, etc. Also, many Bama fans wear crimson colored glasses.

Is that the website that banned every posted from LSU? That place sucks.

re: Is this the biggest game ever for BOTH teams?

AllBamaDoesIsWin: Bama is the only team that they play that has a winning record against them. It seems like recently LSU hates Alabama almost as much as Auburn does, and Bama hates LSU almost as much as they hate Auburn.
All in all though we should be thankful for the teams we cheer for this year. Both are powerhouses that no one but the other has a shot at beating.
Indeed, this is a big game. In fact, the biggest in most fans lifetimes. All national championship games, in which your favorite team competes, are big to you. So, with that thought in mind, there has none been bigger for Bama, than the Sugar Bowl vs Notre Dame on Dec. 31, 1973. It was #1 vs #2, Bear vs Ara, South vs North. Oh, yeah. And, Billy Graham & Baptists vs The Pope & Catholics.
Hate? I chose to say that I respect the LSU (My 2nd favorite, BTW.) program and feel that most mature fans respect each others program. That ain't hate. Hate to lose to 'em, sure!

were you from the Point or were you a hoss from across?
No. Vigor in Prichard '58. Met Branch in the mid '60s, when we worked for same company. Came to Louisiana in '73. Met Patterson in the '80s through business.

Pascagoula High, eh? You left off Frank "Twig" Branch, class of 1947.
My friend, Twig Branch, 125lb QB for Maroons
Frank "Twig" Branch, a member of the Pearl River Community College Sports Hall of Fame, was awarded a football scholarship to Mississippi State University in 1950 where he was the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs for two years.
He was accorded national attention as the smallest major college player in the nation at 125 pounds. Three times he was chosen "Player of the Week" in the Southeastern Conference after leading his team to victories over Tennessee, LSU, and Georgia.
He directed the Bulldogs to back-to-back 5-5 seasons.
Branch, from Pascagoula, was tabbed with the nickname "Twig" at State and he still carries that title today.
As the story goes, Branch’s locker was next to MSU fullback Joe Fortunato, who later played linebacker for the Chicago Bears.
"We had to weigh in each day after practice," Branch recalled. "My locker was next to Fortunato’s. One day after practice Fortunato looked at me and demanded, ‘What’s your name’? I looked up at that big monster and said, ‘Branch. Sir’.
"He looked back and me and said, ‘Hell. You ain’t nothing but a twig’."

Biloxi High, eh? What about my good friend and Sherrill's teammate, Lynn Patterson? Wow! Patterson has lots of stories 'bout Bama in that era.

Tee Martin a possible candidate for UA WR Coach
It would be a good hire due to Mobile recruiting connections, but I would not support it. It is a well established fact that Martin was being paid while at UT. Statute of limitations is all that prevented punishment.
EXPLETIVE NO!!!

At 2:46 coordinates 30.72N, 88.43W put plane over extreme northeast Jackson County, Mississippi, north of Pascagoula and just west of Mobile County, Alabama line. Should arrive soon.
I wish Coach Miles and the LSU Nation well.
