re: Arkansas fired Mike Anderson to only hire Musselman
Posted by Chaffeeman on 4/7/19 at 5:30 pm
Don't know who Musselman is but I am so glad MA is gone, and won't have to hear his post game laments whereby he knows all the reasons for losing but doesn't know how to fix them. Arkansas deserves better. Hopefully, the new AD has some names up his sleeve. So far, I haven't heard of any "knock your socks off" names. I've seen pics of guys they mention who move fast & have that concerned look on their faces but have no "badges" to go with it. Arkansas won't get that big name guy, too much damage. Need somebody who is willing to wait 2-3 yrs, somebody like Pearl, or Beard who know how to build teams to be a perennial contender.
re: The foul didn't cause the double dribble...
Posted by Chaffeeman on 4/7/19 at 5:20 pm
Agree. Too, That missed double dribble call should have been the end of the game. The fact that it happened right in front of a referee who chose to ignore it or doesn't know the rule is enough for that referee to be excluded from officiating in any further tourney events for at least 5 years. Too much at stake for something like that to be missed or ignored. He saw it and chose to ignore it and I'm surprised there is no mention of it among the tournament officials.
re: Could Arkansas or UCLA hire Pearl away?
Posted by Chaffeeman on 3/30/19 at 11:52 am
Pearl wouldn't come to Arkansas for any money. It would take a rebuild and he wouldn't go for that. He likes winning & makes enemies doing it and that's what he likes. You can tell by the plaudits given Mike Anderson by the people that he was more concerned about being a nice guy than a coach. Surprisingly enough that his mentor Nolan Richardson didn't take the nice guy approach when he coached, something that didn't rub off on Mike.

Can we have an AMEN!

Apparently, the turnover stat hasn't helped them any in their quest for an NCAA bid.

It looks like you are posting your prediction for the 2019 season. Hopefully the new coach is enjoying a great start to a new season. Anserson has failed after 8 yrs & is hyping his young team which he apparently expects to evolve into a juggernaught. Not going to happen since he doesn't know how to develop talent further. Arkansas people have waited long enough. Track doing well, Baseball doing well, Football may realize that the right coach was passed over & we will get no better there. Too bad. We deserve better.

Im not surprised since the Hogs are finished for the year hopefully will give serious consideration for a new coach. BoarEd-Arkansas fan on another part of this website gives reasons why Mike Anderson shouldn't be fired saying that Mike has never had a losing season. Well, I submit that if they take away those "cupcake" games at the beginning of the season, he might very well be on the minus side. A lot of coaches depend on those games to instill confidence in their teams. Sometimes it backfires like it has done in both Football & Basketball at Arkansas. BoarEd gives another reason to keep MIke by saying that the team is the youngest in the league. So what, they should be getting better instead of worse. Mike has played the age game before & he has had 8 yrs to bring along a perennial competitor & hasn't done it. Maybe he can't. It's time to find out & hire another coach.
Arkansas Is Now a Baseball School
Posted by Chaffeeman on 2/17/19 at 11:00 pm
With the failure of Basketball coach, Mike Anderson after 8 years & nothing to show for it & Chad (Put the Hammer down) Morris giving us second thoughts, the only thing we have going in major sports is Baseball with Dave Van Horn solidly in charge. It appears we have another solid year in that sport ahead of us. To hear Mike Anderson talk about the team on TV, we're champs & he keeps on making promises. It appears his coaching talent is limited and if you take away the cupcake games on his schedules, he should have been fired a long time ago. Yes, he has a lot of talent, but maybe he's not the guy to nourish it. Time for a change.

John Pelphry got fired for less. Mike Anderson has had the AD Long snowed from the beginning with that forty minutes of hell crap hope the new AD has guts enough to hit the button,. By now, with the right coach, Arkansas should be a perennial contender in the SEC and he's not close. He is going to hype his young crew as future champs but we will get nothing but chumps who have to know, there is more to the game than hanging on the rim.

When will the promises end. It's been 8 yrs for Mike Anderson & all we go was a couple of post season appearances. What's left after Auburn, nothing. Time for a change.
re: 2019 Arkansas Recruiting Thread **TR RB Trelon Smith Commits**
Posted by Chaffeeman on 10/14/18 at 5:41 pm
Yea, so? There aren't a lot of prime players knocking the door down to play for Morris and Henry is one guy. So, let's not get our banners out for that big season yet. Arkansas went cheap on hiring an unproven in the SEC coach & I'm sure Morris is shocked at this point. As far as I'm concerned, Arkansas put too much into the limited "success' that Morris had and acted too quickly in their selection, but they might learn after this one.
Was Bielema That Bad?
Posted by Chaffeeman on 10/7/18 at 12:09 pm
It's hard for me to believe that Bielema left Arkansas in such bad condition that they have only won one game. Looking back at the beginning of this year, I don't feel like the team was that well prepared to start this season. It seems they were fighting a lot of indecision couldn't make their minds up about who the quarterback was going to be and I don't really think that has been settled yet. In spite of what "Put the Hammer Down" Morris says, the team still doesn't look like they have made a lot of progress. Speaking of that, how long does it look like we are going to wait for a winner?
Arkansas Scored 31 Against Bama. So What
Posted by Chaffeeman on 10/7/18 at 12:01 pm
I will not read too much into that Arkansas scored 31 pts. against Alabama. Saban probably cleared the bench in using three quarterback and scoring 65 pts. The biggest test of progress will come next week against Ole Miss since it might be the only chance the Razorbacks have of winning another game this year.
re: Does anyone here actually thing Chad will be able to turn this around
Posted by Chaffeeman on 9/16/18 at 10:03 pm
After Petrino came John L. which put a hold on recruiting & set Arkansas back in that arena, at least, two years. Then cam Bielema (mistake #1) who lost most of his assistants the first year which set the recruiting back another year. Bielema struggled with what he could get and Chad Morris (mistake #2) will do worse with what he has, so the answer to your question is a big NO!, how could he. He has a lot of rah rah and "put the hammer down", which doesn't win games. Question is will Hunter Yunachek have the guts to pull the plug on him after this 1 -11 seaston and not much better next year.
re: A few stats on Morris
Posted by Chaffeeman on 9/16/18 at 9:55 pm
Why don't you ask Chad "Put the Hammer Down" Morris. He didn't seem to be unhappy with the personnel. He probably should have addressed the QB situation much earlier in the year and you know, he did promise to bring the best defensive coordinator in college football to Arkansas and he fell well short of that with Chavis.
Eris Bolin on Mike Anderson
Posted by Chaffeeman on 9/16/18 at 9:47 pm
In January, Sports guy Erik Bolin justified Arkansas Basketball Coach Mike Anderson's contract being extended through 2022. Bolin says its justified based on the lesser success of other coaches in the SEC which brings me to my question; Since when do colleges give contract extensions based on the success or failures of coaches playing in the same conference. One of the coaches used as an example is Frank Martin who we now recognize as one who has taken his team to the championship game. So what the hell has MIke Anderson done toward going to the big show.
Arkansas Football Survival
Posted by Chaffeeman on 9/16/18 at 9:31 pm
Jeff Long made a blunder by hiring Brett Bielema & I'm thinking the new AD had no part in hiring Chad Morris, an even bigger blunder. For the sake of survival at the UofA, th e new AD should put an ad in every paper in Arkansas, pleading for the gifted recruits to stay home and come to play football at the UofA for the sake of it's survival Going the way it is, they may close shop in a couple of years.

McAdoo was on the right track when he benched Manning. Manning's best days are behind him and if Shurmur wants to survive, he'd better start thinking new QB
