"It's a two-step forward, one-step back deal with him," Sumlin said Thursday. "The consistency part has been an issue. This semester he had been moving forward. Just like in life, it takes one hiccup or miscue or wrongdoing to throw all of that off."
A state trooper pulled over Noil because of a brake light that was out. Noil was released after posting $600 bail and spending nearly an hour in jail. He played in nine of A&M's 13 games last season, with two of those misses because of suspension for undisclosed violations of team rules, including the Aggies' Music City Bowl loss to Louisville in Nashville, Tenn.
