Here's The Contract Tennessee Offered Greg Schiano
© Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports
Now that the dust from the Tennessee coaching drama has finally settled, the original contract offer to Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano, that was then taken back, has been revealed. Per GoVols247...
quote:

The length of Tennessee’s proposed deal with Schiano was for six seasons through Jan. 31, 2024, and the former coach at Rutgers and of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Bucs would have earned a starting base salary of $4.4 million.

Built-in annual raises of $50,000 would have brought the average annual salary to $4.5 million and increased the total worth of the deal to $27 million.

Honestly in hindsight he seemed like the better hire.

"Honestly in hindsight he seemed like the better hire." I don't have a dog in the hunt, but at this point I'd take J Pruitt and his resume at $3.8 million/year over G Schiano and his resume at $4.5-4.7 million/year. Schiano was one game over 500 for his entire time at Rugers and had disastrous record in the NFL. Pruitt may not be ready for prime time yet, but he still has more upside than does Schiano. I wouldn't have given either one of them a six year contract.

I would not want any coach that was on the same staff with Sandusky to coach on my favorite team or even in my favorite conference. Having said that, I don't see how Tennessee can walk away from this fiasco without paying Schiano any money at all.

I know you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but he just looks like a throbbing penis.
