Rebecca Cheptegei, an Olympic distance runner from Uganda, was set on fire by her boyfriend at her house in Kenya over the weekend. She had been living in Kenya due to its proximity to good training centers. Her boyfriend, Dickson Ndiema, allegedly set her on fire during an argument and 75 percent of her body was burned. She's now being treated at a specialized hospital... (The Spun)

He must've saw on her phone all the messages from the other Olympic athletes that hit it while she was in the Olympic Village.

I work on Ascension Island in the S Atlantic and we have had about 7-8 women from Kenya work here. At least 3 of them have been abused by other Kenyan men working here. Others here have told me “it’s part of their culture.” The men believe they have the right to control and punish women as harshly as they want to. It’s disgusting to experience first hand as a medical provider.

Few years back a boyfriend did this to the girlfriend or her small son. Can't remember the details. You have to be one Evil Mother fricker.

Wife worked @ the battered women's shelter years back. This is not as uncommon as you'd like to believe.

This brought back terrible memories of the dad who did this to his little boy back in the 80's I believe.

Maybe not. In that culture, brutality against women is normal.
