The online sports book SportsBettingOnline.ag is refunding money to any customer who placed a bet on Arkansas before the Hogs’ 34–31 upset loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. The Hogs were 30.5-point favorites and choked away a 28-7 lead to lose in overtime. SportsBettingOnline.ag's Dave Johnson said...
quote:

“The loss was unbelievable, and to profit from it really doesn’t sit well with us,” “That’s why we’re refunding every single player who dropped money on Arkansas to win. It’s the right thing to do and we’d be shocked if other online sports books don’t follow our lead.”

Someone did bet $3000 on ULM at 40-1 and won $120,000. That person wanted to bet $5,000 but the books refused and maxed it at 3K.

Marketing ploy (and a good one at that).

Definitely a PR stunt. Probably not a huge amount on the Arky side so they are stealing a page from the Pacquiao/Bradley book and refunding money to get some free press. What they don't tell you is that the refunded money has to be rolled over 3 times before you can withdraw, and the rollover has to be laid on a side and not a money line.

I guess that means no one bet on ULM at +40000 or whatever it was

How many people really bet on Arkansas to win?

They didn't say that they were refunding the money to the people who bet on Arkansas to cover, only on those that bet on Arkansas to win.
