Verbal Jabs Continue Between Spurrier & Sumlin
by TD Staff ReporterSeptember 23, 2014

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports
During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier felt the need to talk about how high-scoring stats in the SEC are "misleading," which lead to a jab at Texas A&M:
When Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin heard Spurrier's comments, he fired back with this:
Texas A&M put up 680 yards of offense and 52 points against South Carolina in the first game of the season.

Did anyone actually listen to the comments instead of just reading the quote. It was hardly a shot at A&M, Lamar was just the first team that came out of his mouth. He has given A&M tons of credit for whipping our ass. If anything he took a shot at LSU talking about how they had 2 shutouts before giving up all those points to MSU.

In Spurrier's defense, Lamar was the biggest challenge we've had so far this season.

The old ball coach is getting older. That 52 points and 680 yards are from predominantly freshmen and sophomores. A YOUNGER TEAM. He doesn't want us on the road next year. It may be a 70 spot. He should cancel the game.

Well he's right. Spurrier tells it like it is. SC has played 3 ranked teams. Some other teams might have played 1 ranked team, but then some FCS or non power FBS teams.

Dont understand why Spurrier doesnt just move on. Deal with A&M next year.

Sumlin could easily have had at least one more score on USCe. Spurrier would be better off to stop reminding everyone that his team played the Aggies.
