Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel reports that Mississippi State is set to hire Manny Diaz as its defensive coordinator.

Diaz will replace Geoff Collins who left Starkville to join Jim McElwain's staff at the University of Florida. Per CBSSports.com:

This would not be Diaz's first stint in Starkville, as he spent 2010 serving as the team's defensive coordinator. He would then leave in 2011 to take over at Texas and spent a little more than two seasons with the Longhorns before being fired during the 2013 season.
