Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has hired Alabama secondary coach Mel Tucker away from Tuscaloosa to be his new defensive coordinator.

Tucker was a defensive coordinator in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears before joining the Crimson Tide coaching staff last season.
