Easiest set up: Top 3 of each P4 for 12 then four at large that cannot come from the P4.

There has to be more emphasis on strength of schedule and less on wins and losses. If they want more exciting games. I’m not a south Carolina fan but they could beat half of these playoff teams and have a good chance at winning it all.

No doubt, I’d go as far as South Carolina, Ole Miss, Bama, LSU, aTm, Mizzou and Vandy over SMU on a Vegas line.

The current playoff system sucks. No three loss team should ever be in consideration for a shot at a National Championship ( except of course LSU;)
It totally waters down the regular season schedule and rewards mediocrity.

Another reason why I don't watch the NFL.

Yawn. No reason to go beyond an 8 team playoff, this isn't the NFL and teams going 11-1 with no challenging head-to-heads are meaninglessly being put into post-season play and getting smoked in round 1. Boring as hell football.

I think he is spot on. Even with the 4-team playoff, we had over 50% blowouts.

Just looking at semis going back to 2017:
Bama over Cincy 27-6
UGA over Michigan 34-11
Bama over ND 31-14
Ohio St over Clemson 49-28
LSU over OU 63-28
Clemson over ND 30-3
Bama over Clemson 24-6
Bama over Washington 24-7
Clemson over Ohio St. 31-0

Since there is only 12 games in a season, you have to put teams that are deserving based on what they did during that year into the field. The seeding needs to be changed, but who should get in was pretty close this year.

College football is dead. Only the very uneducated still care about it.

Pate is protecting the gravy train. This format sucks, those games suck, and there's about 8 teams too many in this playoff. His analysis was testament to the fact that most of the field simply doesn't belong there.
