High School Coach Rips SEC Program For Pulling Scholarship Offer
© Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports
In an interview with AL.com, Oxford High School coach Keith Etheredge was very upset that Tennessee pulled the scholarship offer to three-star athlete Roc Taylor. The 2021 prospect had been committed to the Vols since April... He ended up committing to Memphis on National Signing Day instead... (The Spun)

frick Tennessee, but does this mean to say he would have been better off going to a team that wouldn't he wouldn't fit in? Maybe they should have told him sooner, or maybe he should have signed sooner.

So you use that headline, but don't give the coaches words? Idiot

He’ll play for a better team now.

How does this differ from when a kid commits to a school and at the last minutes signs with another school.

Did UT at least sign a better player with the spot?

the kid still got a full ride scholarship to a D1 school - and I'd argue Memphis may even be a better program right now than UT. Pulling an offer stinks, but Heupel just got hired and I'm sure had some tough decisions to make, and this is big-time football.

With all the crap going on at UT, who would want to go there anyway? Will be fine at Memphis

He ended up signing with the best program in the State. Seems to have worked out for the best for him.

Everyone found out his offer was pulled when Coach Etheredge contacted Tennessee the day before to make sure there were no loose ends. That's when they decided to text Roc, and then he received a call by some assistant coach he had never heard of before. Heupel didn't even have the courtesy to call him.

He’d probably never even talked to Heupel

If you don't sign in December, all bets are off.

He has signed with Memphis. This is aboot an hour from home, and will be convenient when he goes in the portal.

He's from Oxford Alabama. That's 4 hours from Memphis.

It sucks, but the kid had a chance to sign on early signing day and did not. It was a risk that go both ways, kids flip from schools last second all the time.

Absolutely. But what sucks is when a kid gets hurt and they pull the offer. I get it, but don’t talk about loyalty and do that. If I were a coach and my player got his offer pulled after he had been committed but he got hurt, I’d tell that school don’t come back for any more of my players.

Oxford High school asks all of their athletes to sign together. Yesterday there were baseball, wrestling, and football players sign their letters of intent. Even the students like Kwon Alexander and Kendall McCallum had to wait until the February singing day.

Maybe the school should change their policy if they are gonna get pissy when the college doesn't wait on the kid

Do not trust a coach who's BMI is greater than 50.
