Lol sorry I typed that fast without proofreading like I wanted. I’m about to be outside all day working in the yard.

But what I was trying to say is the atheist I encounter whether it be my friends or people at a party, they want to just live their own life, for them. Have no accountability for their actions or what they choose to do. Whether it be how they treat people, how they talk, drugs/alcohol, who they sleep with, etc. Not at all saying atheist are bad people. Hell, I know people who call themselves Christians who behave this way. They have this sort of “I’m not simple minded like you, I have such a better take on life.”

I’m about to work outside before the rain. I’ll hop on tonight to respond. Hope you have a good day man.
Christians believe in 1 miracle. God always existed. If you believe that the rest makes complete sense. You have hundreds of prophecy’s fulfilled. In Job you have God mentioning “springs in the oceans” we didn’t know that till 1800s. He talks about where wind comes from, we didn’t know that either then. You have the tribe of Light mentioned in Numbers and the exact number of people is the speed of light. You have lineages of kings predicted. The Dead Sea Scrolls had verses of the Bible which line up exactly with what we previously had. You look at all the references in the Old Testament to Jesus coming, being born exactly where it was predicted. Yes the Bible was written and translated from different languages so some of the words can get lost. But when you talk to scholars who go back and read the original language they tell you how freaking close it is. I think my favorite argument I get lately is “yeah well the Bible has several stories just like other religions. Other creation stories, floods, birth of a virgin, etc. So why should i believe the Bible when it copied those?” Hmmm, lots of accounts of similar things tells me…It happened. If I see lots of drawings of men fighting bears in caves, I think there were men fighting bears... So when you hear how flood stories are depicted in Samoa/Hawaii and Asia are probably what they’ve experienced and heard from ancestors.

But Atheist, who make fun of you for thinking God always existed and that something came from nothing, yet somehow think SCIENTIFICALLY, that something came from nothing. Somehow these tiny particles (which were always here) somehow caused such an explosion, the Big Bang, that life and the universe we now see came from. The amount of trouble and literally millions of miracles that had to occur just for us to exist is laughable. That somehow that chaos caused order. Which we have never seen this before. Somehow these single cell, microorganism evolved into multi cellular things over BILLIONS of years. Yet, none has ever been proven. If that’s true then you are just a complex chemical reaction. Where does your morality come from? Where does your love come from? By that thinking you don’t love your kids you just have a need to procreate and have offspring. You truly believe that? You have no free will and should just be a complete savage. But no, all throughout history of mankind, our ancestors have always known we come from an intelligent creator. Go look at some of the smartest atheist ever who tried to prove God wasn’t real and they all converted.

But what I usually encounter from atheist is they are so proud and don’t want to acknowledge God because then they have to change their way of life. There’s a hubris deep down that wants to have no accountability for the life they live or their actions. Or they’ve been scorned by the church which breaks my heart too.
Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

1 Peter 5:7
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

Matthew 6:25-35
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

This anxious spirit is not from God. I think everyone has times of anxiety but it’s verses like these and knowing God never promises an easy life, but He is always with us. I’ll be praying for them. When they find peace I hope they know it’s from God.

Ok so seems like as long as we pick a mid week day in advanced should be good. Y’all have a preference for time of the day? Also, I’m not opposed for a weekend either if that’s better for others. I should have one buddy with me at least for weekends. I don’t have kids yet but I understand how tough that is so just lemme know what works next few weeks for y’all.

Sounds good Bonkers. Ted, it just depends on how much in advance we know. Webb is easy to get morning weekend times if you book it 3-4 days in advance or else you gotta settle after 10am. Santa Maria same kinda thing. Weekends get so stacked up there, good luck finishing under 4hours 20 min.

Roach yeah probably weekends mostly. I do have time midweek especially with time change coming up. But it’s probably more short notice like 1-2 days max unless we all wanna play midweek and I just take off work.

But I’m down to play copper mill, beaver creek, Webb, Santa Maria, pelican, or the island. Never played in New Orleans but I’m down to play there too.

Ok good, yeah that score definitely fits in! I don’t mind playing with anyone as long as it’s not like 7 shots to get to the green because every hole, that’s no fun for anyone. I mean we all have bad days and holes so there’s no shame but if that’s your game all the time, probably hit the range and a lesson.
I also don’t want some dude who shoots in the 70s thinking he’s gonna be a shark and take all the fishes’ money. Be it as little as it may be…. But if they were cool and wanted to come and could put up with some bogey golf, sure I don’t mind!

Haha, why? I hope it’s not because you think you’re too bad. I’m no stranger to the great tee shot then fall apart 80yds to the hole and double bogey. In fact that was my game yesterday. But if you are too good I understand it. Have a buddy I work with who’s a scratch golfer and I feel like crap when I play with him. What’s your handicap?

Looking for a Golf Group

Long time, first time caller. I live in the BR area and looking to golf with some people. I have a few buddys who I golf with but you know how it is with life, family, work, etc it can be tough to wrangle everyone. We all early 30’s dudes just trying to golf when we can. I’m sure it’s been done here before but curious if anyone would be down to play a round/start a little group.

I’m always down to scramble or play just for fun. Just depends on what everyone wants to do. When me and my buddy’s play we never want to have an amount of money that would make any of us uncomfortable or resent any of the others. I have lots of engineering buddies and they are notoriously stingy so I can’t ever get them to lay down some money just for fun. Sorry, no MJ level betting $30k a hole lol.

Anyways, I play around 90 if no mulligans. Best score is 83 Santa Maria from the blues. Most recent score was Webb 92 but no warm up, 5 weeks off, and the course was stacked up bad, no flow. Last few times been sub 90 pretty consistently. Played Pelican Point around new years shot 94. 18 birdies app has me just above 19 handicap for 16 rounds but there’s lots of bad golf days in there too lol. Depending on how much of advance I’m down to meet areas not more than hour away or so from BR on weekends.

TLDR; Anyone in BR or surrounding area need or wanna golf group, holla at me. Not great but decent golfers who try and are getting better. We early 30s so if that’s weird for any but we don’t discriminate. I’ve had my arse kicked by plenty of old man game, just right down the middle for 185-200yd every damn time.

What price did you get it for and how easy is it to get tee times? I’m hoping to do a golf trip in the off-season for super low rates.
Lately Jimmy Tropicana has had some good tips come on my feed. Keeping the driver low on backswing and coming forward low to high has made a HUGE difference on my driver. Getting that club face around square fixed my slice…for now.

Biggest thing I do when I’m not sure what’s going wrong with my swing, is film it. You will find something wrong your hands/grip/feet/shoulders/head lol. Just the other day I was hitting everything great but irons which used to be my forte, found I was choking up on the club. Had no idea till I saw it.
Me and my friends have always laughed about people from LA Tech thinking so highly of themselves, It’s honestly pretty cringeworthy. LA Tech grads have always had that complex about them. I knew several people who couldn’t make the grades at LSU and transferred to Tech so they could still make it to Vet and Medical school. Also, I met the reverse who transferred to LSU from tech and said it was much harder. Not saying LSU is some amazing academic school but all you gotta do is look at the alumni average salary.
Ran through Lafayette last month.
Torn rotator cuff and torn labrum aren’t easy to recover from for the average person. But professional athletes heal so much faster. Soft tissue injuries always take time and you can’t rush them. Also, it’s not like you or me where we just have to get back to work/normal life. I’d imagine they miss first month just to be safe. But we don’t know how bad the tears were or how many anchors were used.
Drew Brees is one of the most famous athletes to have one of the worst torn labrums that needed like 12 anchors. Which the normal is like 1-3 anchors. Which is why other team doctors didn’t touch him. Thanks again Danny Kanell’s dad!(Miami Dolphins’ team doctor).
Very well could be, but the East is weak as can be. Idk why they won’t be at least a 6th seed.
The Romans were very good at killing people. Jesus died, they even speared his side to make sure. Jesus was resurrected 3 days later and appeared to 500 eye witnesses over 40 day period. So much so that those disciples were completely on fire for God that they went out and spread the gospel even under threat of death. They didn’t care because they know what they saw was undeniable. You don’t do that for something fake. The joke would be up, you’d say anything to live. But all of them were killed for spreading Jesus’ teachings and what they witnessed. Just go look at all the prophecy’s fulfilled. The Old Testament predates prophecy’s from the New Testament by thousands of years. It’s incredible. We are talking lineages, rise and fall of kingdoms, and of course the birth of Jesus(and the exact lineage he’d be from).

How do you know George Washington existed, you never saw him? Could be fake but no you understand and trust that credible people saw him and witnessed what he did.

I understand I won’t just make you believe with some random post on the OT. Believe me I understand where I am lol. But brother I’ve been down the road of questioning all kinds of stuff with religion. Just go look at all the prophecy’s the Bible correctly predicted. Go look at where they’ve found the chariots in the river where Moses led them across in Egypt. Go google the mountain side where the 10 commandments were given and see the fire burned into the side of it. Go see how they have thousands of 99.9% sulphur bulbs in the middle of where Sodom and Gomorrah were. There are many more examples. Please don’t let the way man has perverted Christianity block you from God’s word. I’ve been there, go scrutinize it, it holds up. Don’t worry about getting into some debate with some random guy on tigerdroppings. Google Cliffe Knechtle, he goes around to college campuses and answers tough questions that I think you may have.
Yeah I didn’t think peat was end of the world I just heard make sure you don’t have too much because box stores will sometimes sell you plants caked in that stuff and crappy soil. We’ve always completely freed our plants of the soil they came with before putting them in our mixture. But are you making a distinction between peat moss and peat? Because it seems like there is based off what I’ve read. I never thought of them as different until your brought it up just referring to it as peat. Pear by itself seems very hard to come by, where do you get yours for the mix?
Thanks for all your time and insight you’ve put into this thread! I do have a question about peat. Are you differentiating from peat moss? Because finding peat by itself seems to be hard. Did a google search of differences and seems there is an obvious one. I’ve heard peat moss isn’t good for your plants but I’m guessing that’s probably in bigger ratios. Most of the big box store brands like miracle grow put that crap in there soil. I saw you mentioned coco coir and rice rolls which is nice but what about vermiculite as an alternative?
