Ever since the four team College Football Playoff became a reality last season, there has already been a lot of chatter as to whether or not it should be expanded to eight teams.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn made it known on Tuesday that he would like to see the playoff expanded to the eight teams and he had good reasoning for it that SEC fan will like to hear:

64 team play-off or bust

The SEC didn't have two teams that should have been in last season. Six teams would be perfect most years though.

Still like 6.

8 teams makes perfect sense. It will eventually get there. More than 8 is too many.

I also like 6 teams with top 2 getting a bye. Too much difference between #1 and #8

I like 8. 5 power conference champs, 1 spot open to the highest ranked little 5 (congrats no.1 on a warm up first round game) and 2 at large spots.

I like 6 too, for the reward. But a bye won't happen, so I'm fine with 8

8 is aa good number but there will be more teams that will have a legit argument for why they should be in and more complaining as you add more teams

Eight teams is the right number.

Yup 8 is the perfect number. I predicted the super conferences back in 2008 (still not there yet) and an 8 team play off.
