CBS NCAA Basketball announcer Jim Nantz is worried about the future of college basketball...
quote:

“My concern on your question is the future of college basketball,” Nantz said, responding to a question from Dan Patrick on whether golf or college basketball had a more grim future.

“That may not live as we know it another 500 years. It may not live another 15 years. Because the portal and NIL, it’s difficult. And I don’t want to paint it doom and gloom, I don’t want to say it’s bound to be extinct, it’s not going to be.

No. He’s right. It won’t last. They’ll only be blue bloods or schools that have money left with all
Of the best players in 15 years. Same with baseball and Football

All college sports in trouble.

There is too much money involved for it to die, I think the NIL rules/laws will change before it dies.

Agree with Jim. In the NIL/portal era, it’s easy to trot out an all star team season after season. Take LSU as an example.

No the fact is money has been a part of sports for years!! The portal helps all players from being trapped by coaches like Saban from recruiting players so they don’t play for other teams!

Not this kind of free flowing sizable money with no agreements or moral contracts at all

Well, Hoopla only lasted one commercial. But we saw it 100 times.

Basketball will survive. It will change due to the money distribution to where only the Power conferences will have the money to pay the players. But we see that now.

“May”, “might”, “could”, “potential”

Since when has opinions count as actual real news?

Who said this was news? 99% of sports talk is people sharing their opinions.

Maybe so, but the thought of college basketball or even football going down the drain in the near future due to extreme greed is quite depressing don’t you think?
