We learned what it can mean for a few good players to come back.

It is what our Rose Bowl team, LSU last year and Bama this year really had in common.

Returning QB and some future NFL draft picks returning.

This ensures that Carroll will red shirt. Possibly Daijun Edwards, too. I suspect Edwards might end up in the portal. I hope not. He looked really good in his limited role this past season.

I agree. People are overlooking Edwards, but he ran hard. Many don't seem to realize that he got more carries, yards and had a higher average per carry than Milton.

That said, we all know Milton lost a lot of time due to injuries, but Edwards proved to be more than capable. He was brought on as more of an afterthought after missing on Zach Evans, but he played well above his
ranking.

I love Milton, don't get me wrong. I just don't want our fans to overlook an important player.

Great news!
Now, let’s hope our O line can give all these RBs some room to run.

I don’t think so. Edwards will get the same carries he got this year, maybe a few more. Carroll should contribute on special teams. Carroll and Edwards are one season away from being 2 of the 3 feature backs in 22.

Egos aside, isn’t the best thing for these guys to build over 3-4 years and rotate more as they get bigger and stronger? Then get paid.

Odds a 3 year starter makes it through an SEC schedule without some significant injury?

You could be right, but I wouldn't count on Milton being injured a good portion of the year. If he stays healthy that will cut into Edwards carries significantly. If Milton proves to be injury prone we will have bigger problems to worry about down the road.

You really think? Are they are going to pass McIntosh or Milton? I don't see Milton or McIntosh being passed by both. Sorry.

Reply to bottom: I think McIntosh is off to the NFL if we have a magical year where he is a significant piece. I was eluding to 2022 being Milton RB1 and Edwards and Carroll there as RB2 and RB3.

Kirby has been able to handle multiple quality RBs by giving each one game starts and rotating them in and out often. Swift would start a game, then Holyfield, even Herrien. I know it was sometimes because of a nagging injury but it seemed to work well and none got upset over not starting every game. He even rotated starts with Chubb and Michel.
Maybe even use two RBs in the opening series as starters.
Having a guy be able to call home and say, "Mamma, I'm going to be the starter Saturday!" will keep a guy happy.

I was actually thinking McIntosh was a freshman this year. (I forgot he was a sophomore) But, I still don't think he will get the necessary carries/exposure to leave after next year. Not with Zamir and Cook still here. I think the number of carries will be similar to Swift his sophomore year. That will be the role McIntosh will play, imo.

Like I said....you could be right, and I could be wrong. (It's been known to happen...often.) I think McIntosh's chances were hurt dramatically when both Zamir and Cook came back. I expect both of those to be dominating next year.

What an awesome “problem” for us 2 fans to be discussing this offseason! Too many great backs. Cheers! Go Dawgs!

Agree 100%. And RB is not the only place we are loaded. WR.

Pickens
Robertson
Blaylock
Kearis Jackson
Arian Smith
Rosemy
Jermain Burton
Justin Robinson
and I feel like I am forgetting somebody.

Bush? Is he gone or is he coming back?

Arian Smith....man. I saw just enough of him to show me what I needed to know. He can open up the middle of the field and blow the top off the defense. He really stretches the field and seems to be able to catch to top it off. Burton and Jackson can run and catch and then Pickens makes the tough circus catches.

Next year will be our very best year to win it all. We are quickly arriving where we need to be talent wise.

If Kirby lets Milton walk at the expense of an extra year for Cook and Zeus, he should be fired.

Milton is looking to get PAID in the NFL. If he can't get his resume right at UGA, I'm afraid he'll walk rather quickly to find a better opportunity as a feature back.

Don't frick this up, Kirby.

So if a kid quits the team, the coach should be fired?

Fwiw, Milton wanted to play with Zach Evans. Milton tried to recruit tank bigsby. He isn't afraid of backs in his same class. There is no way that he fears backs 2 classes ahead.

We already lost Fields, who is about to be a top 5 pick in the NFL draft. Rather not lose Milton who is likely a high first, low second rounder if he gets to carry the rock enough.

That was HS Milton. Watching his teammates at UGA leave for the draft or watching them get drafted has gotten into his head, or at least it would anyone with his talent level/potential and a lick of common sense.

Milton tell you he's thinking of leaving? His dad tell you? Fields left even before his freshman season was over. They aren't the same person.

You don't tell Zeus and Cook they have to go. You might not encourage them to stay as much, but ultimately it is their decision.

He cam here knowing he would work his way up. He would probably be in the Swift role this coming year. A lot of playing time, but not featured, then his junior year be the man. Surely he realizes that, and if not....
