Georgia RB signee Nick Chubb won the GHSA AAAA shot put title on final throw: 55-0.

2:56 PM - 8 May 2014

quote:

JEFFERSON, Ga. -- UGA running back signee Nick Chubb took first place in the Class 4A state shot put finals Thursday afternoon, firing a winning throw of 55-0 on his final attempt (see video, courtesy of Rusty Mansell).
While it was shy of what Chubb said was his career best (55-8), it was enough to win a state championship for Cedartown High School.
Afterward, Chubb says he's currently in the 225-230-pound range and planning to head to Athens on June 2 to enroll for first summer session classes. A five-star running back, Chubb plans to wear jersey No. 27 with the Bulldogs and room with signee Malkom Parrish, he said.

He's going to be a bull. Nice size/speed combination. Looking forward to seeing him in action.

Impressive but the fact a RB is doing it isn't surprising to me. They are often the strongest guys on a team pound for pound. My son threw, and their region champ was a 603 210 lb LB who threw 47+. so what Chubb did really doesn't surprise me, being the specimen that he is.

Thomas Brown might hold that record forever

quote:

Sure, Brown is only 5-foot-8, but he boasts a 470-pound bench press.

Yes, he only weighs 190 pounds, but he can power-clean that's from the floor to over his head 347 pounds. And he also recorded a 610-pound squat, giving him three records for Georgia running backs of any size.

ETA: Like a bawss

Yep. UGA might have to do what Bama did and hold him back in the weightroom. They can't let him musclebound.

Saw another post elsewhere, didn't verify but apparently...

Only one Athlete in Ga. HS history has won a Class State Championship in both the shot put & the 100 meter dash...

Chubb is seeded 2nd in the 100 meter today...

The only HS athlete to accomplish this??? Herschel Walker...
