When UGA starts getting whipped consistently in rural Georgia, we've got a problem.

Is that the case though? And what do you consider rural GA?

Valdosta/lowndes area is a hotbed but it's about 75 miles from FSU and 100 miles from UF..and 250 miles to Athens.

Columbus has some studs on a regular basis, which is 35 miles from AU and 175 from Athens.

The issue we as fans have is that we grew up die hard UGA fans and we sometimes think that these 17 year old kids are like us and should be dying to go to UGA because they live in GA. More and more often that's just not the case. The good thing is that we have an elite salesman and recruiter so the tide is already turning, that's 100% plain to see. All we gotta do now is win some games and we're on the right track.

I understand the potential obstacles but think that's the road to UGA doing well in-state. Those areas are still more pro-UGA than ATL is on the whole.

Bobo cleaned up in South Georgia and that has continued under Smart so far. Columbus is tougher, but we've done ok there.

Yet another glowing reason why Atlanta sucks. Transplant parents produce five star football players that then go out of state because they have no loyalty to Georgia. Then they troll all of us by wearingi Georgia shite before they announce to go somewhere else.

There are to be some type of an export tax on blue-chip players.

It offers so many desirable jobs that people from all over the country move to our fair state to get them?

The net impact of the transplants is positive for UGA football. We still get some of them.

NOw, ATL is made up of millions of people not from ATL or even GA... yet we have some sort of expectation for them all to be loyal to the college 60 miles to the East that many never have been to...

Unless they're a legacy to another school we should have a better shot at landing them than Auburn, right? We are still the state school only 60 miles away. While ATL and Metro are transient, they are still predominately UGA fan bases.

Yes but they're like Muslims. They fail to assimilate and quietly plot to destroy us from within by sending their huge five star recruit children to Clemson and Alabama

Time to get your shite together

I would say that we do, at least as it stands now.

That doesn't mean you're going to get everyone vs. them

We currently have 13 (potentially 15) of the top 20 in state committed to us.

AU has exactly zero.

In 2016's class we got 7 of 20, AU got 4.

In 2015 we got 8. AU got 2.

AU is always (well, almost always) going to do "alright" in GA simply because they're a stone's throw away and most kids in AL are going to want to go to bama. But it's not like they're neck and neck with us. And with kirby here I don't see them seriously challenging us much either.

In fairness, McIlwaine doesn't recruit well at all and Texas is a dumpster fire with a new coach.

However, if there is one thing we don't have to worry about with Kirby it is recruiting. He is recruiting off the charts. And for this to be his first full year? If he can translate this on to the filed we could lock down the state like LSU does Louisiana. I am amazed at the job Kirby is doing on the recruiting trail.

And here's the thing, even if kirby only turns out to be just an "above average" coach we're still going to rack up wins just on talent alone.

I don't think so. Kirby will not string together multiple top-5 classes if he can't win (somewhat) big. UT's house of cards crumbled- they are going to slide until Butch is let go....all because they didn't win with the talent they amassed.

This is our risk. We elevated recruiting, if we don't coach well the net gain may be very little or even zero. If we do coach well, there really is no limit to what could be built.

And that is a legitimate point. I've always thought that if Saban was a great on field coach Alabama shouldn't lose a single game or National Championship. They get the best of the best players. Yes, I realize that recruiting is a part of being a coach, and Saban excells at that. If Kirby continues to recruit like he does, he could become "only" an above average coach and we could win a National Championship. I like what he is doing right now......a lot. His on filed management....I'll have to wait and see.

Well we also hired the defensive coordinator for arguably the best college football team in the country who put together some of the best defenses in the country as well. Kirbys not just some coaching hack who could recruit well.

Whether or not he can Transition to a head coach still remains to be seen but it's not like he's coming in with a worse Pedigree than Richt or Dabo did in their first head-coaching position.

Tennessee really only had one really good class, though. (Maybe two? I can't remember) They recruited very average other than that.

We need to win the East in 2017. Tennessee loses a lot. Florida loses a lot. South Carolina is still a year or more (Maybe MUCH more) away. Missouri, ugh.
This is the year. if we don't win the East, we could be in trouble.

We are getting the players, now we have to develop them.

So what that's clemson won? It really doesn't make it better or worse for UGA. We need to win period. It doesn't matter what the other teams around us are doing.

It matters quite a bit actually. We're all fishing from the same pond.
