I laughed.

But that wasnt Burton at UGA at all.
On those WR screens, he just lowered his head and tried to plow through DBs.
Nothing at all like McConkey or McIntosh (or even Blaylock in 2019).

I didn't mind Burton's effort. But we are far more effective on those screens with other players.

I saw someone post on a FB group about this last night. It's obviously far away but looks like more of a shove. You can't tell if anything was said by either party to provoke the situation. It's hard for security to keep back all those fans but so many bad things can happen in this day and age. I remember a girl got a head injury when we stormed the field after the UT win in 2000. This could get really bad for Burton if the girl gets an attorney or goes to the PD and files charges. It doesn't really matter at that point if she was supposed to be on the field or not.

I was on the field and I remember that. Every time I see kids tear down goalposts it reminds me of her. I wonder what ever happened to her.

From what I can tell, that is a fake account. Nobody else is reporting that information (and that mugshot looks very photoshopped).

I'm not sure but I think she may have recovered. It seems like there would have been lawsuits. That was the first UT game at home I did not attend after going to all of them from 90-98. I remember our athletic dept being quite upset over the whole situation. I think I saw the UT AD laughing it off which won't go over well. You would never see it happen at a pro game. Still there was a ridiculous amount of staff personnel at the Vandy game. They kept harassing me and other people for standing in the concourse and becoming very militant about it.

Obviously I'm biased, but if this happened while still at Georgia he probably would've been booted off the team by now.

meh, it was worth it. That was one of those things kinda like the AU blackout that was a situation of the universe culminating in that exact specific time and place to create somethign that would be nearly impossible to experience again. I was barely out of middle school but I was on the field and will never forget it. One of the best home crowds I can ever recall and if the price for the magic that happened that night was 2 new goalposts and a higher botany bill then so be it.

What's wrong with you? Regardless of whether or not students should be on the field, no player has the right to assault people for simply being there. They don't have the authority or responsibility to keep students off the field.

Unless Burton was being assaulted, himself, he had no right to use aggression towards others.

There is nothing a woman can say that is bad enough for a football player to clock her in the side of the head. I'm sure he's going to use the Myles Garrett defense. We'll see if it works for him.

The Myles Garrett Defense

quote:

Garrett has on multiple occasions claimed he swung the helmet in response to Rudolph using a racial slur. Rudolph has repeatedly denied the accusation, and an NFL investigation found no evidence to support it.

Garrett was not surprisingly full of shite, but he played the one card he knew was foolproof.

Except that the video clearly shows her effort to get out of his way and avoid inadvertent contact prior to getting smacked while walking away. And he’s also on camera swinging at another fan.

In the Texas Tech incident, by this time, the school had already issued a statement condemning the white male student that pushed a Texas player in the back, and the Lubbock police department had sent out still photos of the incident requesting help identifying the white male suspect so that he could be criminally prosecuted.

Just another example of the two tiered justice system we have now in this country depending on your skin color and/or political beliefs.

Hot take considering it's a penalty to body slam another player during a game. Pretty sure doing it to a fan gets you assault charges.

Had an interesting conversation with one of my friends who happens to be black. He was, correctly, saying that if Burton was white, no one would have called what he did “thug” behavior. I responded that if Burton was white and the girl he hit was black, Burton’s dorm and locker would already be cleaned out and he would have been arrested, among things. He laughed and agreed.

If your friend doesn't see a major issue with this, then he is part of the problem.
